VAR Discussion Thread | 2024/25

Was watching rugby today and also highlights of India England in the cricket.
Several instances of where technology was used correctly by referees/umpires.
The cricket one is very good where an appeal can be made, incorrect first calls over ruled and players willing to accept the final decision . Similar in todays rugby.
In both sports the referees can explain the decision to the fans via microphones and TV screens.
Look at tomorrow nights superbowl and see how it should be fine.
The Premier league is a farce compared to other sports. Refeees , VAR officials and referees panel can't make up their mind on what are relatively a simple set of rules.
With both VAR, as with FFP, they seems to change the rules in response to clamour and noise so that none of us understand them from one season to the next .

It's almost as if those in charge of the game can't run the game properly . Who'd have thought it ?
But don't worry, it's all City's fault .

Foul for the Orient goal
Penalty on Marmoush
Red card on Marmoush

Offside goal last night.

I would say VAR is needed

I was thinking the same than I remembered the Rashford not interfering at the swamp, ratfaces goal.
Then I remembered Coventry being robbed in the semi final last year. Both ruled as OK by VAR.

I'm sure that if you go back in this thread to the derby you will find a certain poster totally absent. He/they always are when Var is proved to be as corrupt as the bent bloke with the whistle.
No matter what has been said by Pigmob since, nothing can excuse that totally corrupt decision by the ref and compounded by Var.

There’s no doubt it’s needed going by this weekends shambles. But 1000% better than it is now. No one can honestly say that ANY of the shit decisions today would have been overturned - bar the goal line one which is black and white. Serious question for me is has VAR de-skilled the refs? They don’t seem to be used to making decisions that were bread and butter 10 years ago
You don’t need VAR for over the line stuff. Just goal line technology

What an absolute joy it was being at the game yesterday and going full on bananas when we scored - no VAR shite to kill the one thing we go to the match for - celebrate goals. Beautiful.

What a joy for those Man Utd fans celebrating a last minute winner despite clearly being offside - who gives a shit how those Leicester fans felt knowing that. When all it needed was a short check from VAR.

If I’m that certain poster than have a look back at what I posted on that decision.
By the way without VAR that’s exactly what we would have more on a regular basis - as proved this weekend.

That decision was scandalous..it shouldn't need var to see it was well offside..fucking lino was in line with it too .if he didn't see it was offside then he should be fucked off from running the line permanently.

Astounded there's still anti-var opinions. This weekend is a horrendous Insight into the shitshow we would see on a weekly basis without it.

Coventry were not really robbed , I know it's a pain but VAR was technically right he was only just offside .
People should let that one go .

Seeing as var has to decide on when the ball is kicked to decide what frame to use. It could be argued var choose the frame to help the rags

In our match, what do you think Var would have intervened on ?
I don't think any of the wrong decisions would have been overturned.
