VAR Discussion Thread | 2024/25

How the fuck is football suppose to operate when the decisions that involve VAR are still so obviously false?! I will never get over the fucking pathetic call at Wembley last weekend and the calls made at the swamp today is yet another reminder that the officials in English football are either at best incompetent or at worse corrupt.
They're all of the above I'm afraid.

A nonsense would be to issue a red card for a borderline infraction. Something that is perfectly allowed on one side of a line is not a red card on the other side of a line. That is not rational and never will be.
Borderline is still a foul.
If someone attempts to punch his opponent but misses under your reasoning then it's not violent conduct or even a foul.
You cannot be this stupid. You are obviously on the wind up.

I never claimed it wasn't. The point of contention is the carding, not that it wasn't an infraction. Red cards are reserved for severe or egregious fouls. In no way could that be characterized in such a way, as it was a borderline situation.

Now you're trying to wind me up by making such a comparison.

I don’t get this logic at all. Surely this situation is just proving 100% that people will moan like fuck about needing VAR when it suits them.

Today we’ve seen exactly what people have been clamouring for. A return to VAR not getting involved in decisions.

Or do people not want that now? It’s hard for me to keep up.
I dont know know why it's hard to keep up.
No one wants Var It's run by morons. All posters are saying is he should not have whistled. He is to stupid to realise that Var are there to hopefully help him, (although thats debatable). The point is, referees are not good enough and they ate running Var.

Unbelievable fuck up from that supposed top line ref in the rag game today, I know people make mistakes all the time but fuck me! Wonder what was going through the fools head afterwards assuming he'd been told what a mess he'd made? If it was me I'd have been that filthy with myself I'm not sure I'd have been able to carry on! Just a totally stupid decision. And to top it off the knob has helped the rags to a few more million in prize money for finishing higher in the table! Tosser!

Oh and just to round off the day, the Var farce continued in the league one play off final.
More technical difficulties led to another 8 minute stoppage.

They are laughing at us. They are openly taking the piss and laughing at us.

On the other hand, it was a shocking fumble by the keeper. I doubt he could have fathomed that he didn't control it for at least a moment.

I agree the referees aren’t good enough

But we should be really clear. If we’re all agreed that we should get rid of VAR, then this is what we’re getting. This Villa match and this kind of outcome is what we would have in the future. This is the alternative.

If we’re all fine with that, then great.

Ref called the sending off, the penalty and the non foul on the goalie in real-time in United favour. By whistling on the non foul that meant no VAR opportunity to redress and on x2 other
means VAR need "high bar" to reverse "Ref Call"
this year to previous years. If you wanted to manipulate game to a preferred result its the exact way you would act given those situations.
Martinez was a red card as was Henderson in Cup Final. Villa should have been 1 up but due to foul given they were not. Penalty was not a pen.
Amad plays ball to his right away from goal then
changes his run to opposite direction and plants
his left boot towards defender. Amad not in control of ball and running in opposite direction.
Technically Amad obstructing or fouling Villa player.

Sign me up. Same mistakes but without VAR, yes please.

Inconsistencies in refereeing decisions have long been a sore point in La Liga, which, in turn, has gravely impacted the prestige of the league.

From controversial handball calls to unclear VAR interventions, clubs and fans alike have grown frustrated with the lack of uniformity and transparency. Now, FC Barcelona has taken a formal step toward change.

Unfortunately VARcelona will be pissing in the wind here with their 3 point proposal, because while they seek clarity in decisions it is an impossibility. With VAR, you simply have too many cooks in the kitchen to expect a decent meal!
