Wasn’t this before VAR because VAR was introduced to stop any mistakes
For me the Newcastle player’s tackle was worse with more force but apparently it was incidental contact on Phil, maybe because it didn’t break his ankle after all the criteria is much higher for a City player to be fouled
There is no excuse to be inconsistent VAR has the benefit of slow motion and freeze frame numerous times yet it fails time and time again it’s not fit for purpose or maybe it’s deliberate and it depends upon the shirt colour?

Didn't they say it was after Phil got the shot off. In that case the foul on the Arsenal player was after he got the pass off.
