VAR (PL introduction 2019)

I think the main issue appears to be that the 4th official Moss? Didn't look at all camera angles available. And secondly doesn't appear to know the off side rule which doesn't pertain to just a players foot?
Or it could be Moss, with a professional bookie as a bessie and linked to a cartel of agents, is just a cheat

Of course I'm biased!

But I'm not saying that the correct call was made. I'm merely saying that Chelsea's big show of indignation is misplaced because their footage enhances the possible illusion of offside in the same way that Sky's footage enhances the illusion of onside. The controversy therefore is not whether or not Kane was onside. The controversy was whether or not this was a correct use of VAR. I don't think it was.

Then again, Oliver incorrectly penalised Lamela as he was about to score near the end. So 1-0 was was a fair result.
I have no issue with the final decision. The issue I have is potential manipulation of games by a bastard in a bunker miles away from the stadium.

Why cant every player have some sort of chip around there ankle then all align to get the most accurate ofside decisions? The technology must be out for that.

The whole issue of offside is nowadays a veritable treasure trove for some teams. The idea that you cannot be offside if the ball were last played by an opponent used to mean a deliberate act on the part of the opponent. Now it seems to include the chance and random mishap where the ball ricochets off an opponent rendering the attacker 'onside'! It should follow the pattern where free kicks are awarded for playing the ball back to a goalkeeper. We FOCs shout in unison for a back pass when it barely touches an opponent! But there is so much variation in the application of the opponent 'playing' the ball at an offside that I call half of the decisions 'dubious'!

Rob Styles ?

Or Clattenburg ?

I think there isn't a ref today closeted in the VAR shed would replicate a decision where a pattern of play is identical. Offside one game, onside the other; pen in one game, a booking for diving in the other! No matter what technology is available, at any price, it would still be down to one of the Whistling Wankers to say yea or nay! Yea one day, nay the other. Indeed, yea in one half and nay in the other!

And there is the problem.

I am 100% for v.a.r. but 150% against these people operating it.

Why are the liners flagging for tight offside decisions? Let the game flow and if a goal comes, that's when to let VAR intervene. Obviously there's a lot of scope for corruption with the wonky offside lines but there's scope for corruption anyway as we well know.

It's actually more difficult to judge offside from the angle Sky used, than with the naked eye, at the side.

Yep,spot on.

Indeed !

I've been against VAR from the off and fuck all has changed my mind. In fact, the dubious decisions i've witnessed only strengthen my initial trepidation. For this attitude i've been called a 'dinosaur', told i'm an 'old man who doesn't like change' and labelled a 'luddite'.

Sky obviously love the idea of VAR given the constant 'positiveness' of the commentators whenever it's in use. Last night we heard;
'It's a great system, just needs tweaking' THEY'VE BEEN SAYING THAT SINCE DAY ONE AND WE'RE NOW 2 YEARS DOWN THE LINE.
'It'll cut out wrong decisions.' WRONG.
'It's only for red cards, pens and mistaken identity.' YEAH RIGHT.
'It'll make the game error free.' IT'S A GAME. NOT ROCKET SCIENCE OR MATHS.
Overall it will improve the game.' BOLLOX
'But there's so much money at stake.' CORRECT. AND THAT'S BECAUSE IT'S BEEN SO FUCKING SUCCESSFUL FOR 100 YEARS WITHOUT VAR.'

For broadcasters, it increases controversy, which they love.

Like I’ve said before,I can’t wait for VAR to come in,the likes of the candleburners and the shit getting away with murder for years,we should of had about 4 penalties this season not given, the handball goal from wolves and there’s more stuff that won’t come to mind, bring it on I say.
