VAR thread 2022/23

I Fuckin hate VAR with a passion. Killing the game. Just taken away one of the best premier league goals. NO ONE can excuse it this week. Not even Blue Hammer. Technically things might be right by millimetres but if they are contentious like that one and take 4 AND A HALF MINUTES is just not right. Only people who have never played the game or have shares in VAR believe that’s offside.
And the fact that VAR referrels might end up taking 4 and a half minutes was never on the tin, when they first sold it to us.

Or—and I know this will sound crazy—let’s do what most of us are advocating for and reform VAR (and officiating in general) to be substantially more transparent and far less susceptible to manipulation?
Totally agree but the FA will be well aware of the criticism it's receiving regarding VAR from players, managers, pundits and fans, but continues along the path of VAR being a closed shop where very few are given access to discussions.

Rugby and Cricket are great examples of how VAR is effectively and transparently applied. No fuss, just openly discussing and showing what they want checked.

It isn't difficult, but for whatever reason, the FA continue to apply it in an antagonistic manner.

I completely agree, and it’s a plank of my argument that there is only so long anyone can persist calling these bad (non)decisions a product of incompetence.

If an organisation is aware of persistent incompetence, and decides to not only forgo mitigation, but also protect the incompetent agents from accountability, it quickly becomes corruption.

Except 2020 and did their very best last year two games against Liverpool were manufactured draws. Let’s not forget how many times it have Liverpool points
It didn’t seem to affect the outcome of the league though, so maybe they’re shit at being corrupt too.
