VAT

Wasn't having a pop re the figure, they just confused me :)

You probably pay VAT on the Prem badges, the name and the numbers - as they are 'extras' and not part of the garment. I'm no specialist though :)

bloody tories.
Yep, it was them that did it. 20%. what a rip off. While the rich fuckers hide there money offshore. Tax avoiding parasites.

Without derailing this thread, this is exactly why we have VAT. You cannot dodge it in the same way as tax. If you buy something everybody has to pay it even if like Ric, your money is hidden in a Swiss bank account.

The problem is that VAT hurts the poorer sections of society more than the wealthy. An extra £2 on a £10 item for someone on minimum wage is more punitive than an extra £200 on a £1,000 item for a wealthy individual.

Its not just football shirts... it's school uniforms too!

My wife had exactly the same problem but she got round it by borrowing a pvc nurse's uniform off of Fat Brenda, next door.

(Sorry, couldn't resist it)

No JimH, you can't have pics. Not until you delete the gimp ones, like you promised.

Still nothing from kitbag today ! I was expecting some sort of rubbish from them , and the shirts are still in progress so who knows when I will get them

Is this why on the kitbag site direct the kids shirts are £5 cheaper than the club site??

Just received a email from ben in customer services , will follow up after the investigation
Dear Keith

Thank you for your email to Manchester City Online Shop Customer Services.

Apologies for any issues caused when ordering from MCFC.

I have passed this issue over to management to investigate into.

FFS all of our governments for the past 40 years have insisted on exemptions to avoid having to charge vat on items such as food and children's clothes when it is charged in just about all other EU countries. I am not sure this will last forever. Yes, a good reason not to be in the EU but all of the main parties are afraid to come out of it. Regarding the children's shirts it just looks like an error that will be sorted out. No one is gaining from the error apart from HMRC.

I just used the online shop to pretend to order 2x "small" kids home shirts - checkout price is showing as £84 + postage (seems right to me - £42 each)

That said, I also had a look around the internet - even HMRC site says you should be charged VAT at "zero rate" on kids clothes up to a certain size (generally 14years old as per their size guidance, with some exceptions....zzz)

As far as I understand......"Zero rate VAT" is different to VAT free - they have to record the sale at "Zero VAT rate" for VAT purposes - it's different to "no VAT" or "VAT free", but has the same effect on the total cost of an item as not applying VAT at all...zzzzzzzz.........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

just bought 2 new kids shirts today total cost £102.51 why have I been charged £17.09 VAT ? I thought kids clothes did not have VAT on them ? If anybody could help ?

The £17.09 isn't even the correct VAT at 20% for £84, it should be £16.80 and....£84+£17.09 = £101.09, not £102.51 - something very wrong with those figures.....

If 20% VAT had been applied it should be £84+16.80=£100.80

£17.09 is the correct amount of VAT if the total gross price is £102.51. That makes a net price (i.e. excluding VAT) of £85.42; 20% of which is £17.09.

The shirts have came today and the invoice says Total £102.51 VAT element £17.09 I think kitbag are pulling a fast one on somebody
