I don't want to sign any more defensive midfielders unless one leaves.
Even if they did we could get a better player for less money than Wanyama.
Song would probably be available for less than 10m considering he's been shit for Barca.
That's because he's pretty shit anyway. Completely average defensive midfielder. Good engine and that. Good passer but absolutely zero discipline or awareness.

He's not shit. He's not a typical defensive midfielder, but he's the type we need, with fantastic passing ability, hard worker and decent defender.
I'd have him over Wanyama.
Rather neither. He really isn't a good defender whatsoever. I disagree he's the type we need. We need a defensive midfielder who is going to go out and win the ball and then regain his position if necessary. Song does the first bit relatively well but certainly not the latter.

Song can throw is a decent tackle now and again.
But I think that if we have better passers we won't need ball winners because we'll be dominating possession, especially now that Txiki has a say in how we play and who we sign, he'll put a bit of Barcelona tiki-taka into the team.

I don't know much about Wanyama because the SPL is painful on the eyes, but all I can say is if we do sign another central midfielder it needs to be spot on, we're throwing away far too much money for average/decent players in this position when we need a top class central midfielder or someone who will become top class (will Wanyama? Is he any better than Moussa Sissoko for example?). I actually think this is the most important position in Europe, you need a super strong midfield.

rather i will go and pay 20-25M for moutinho/fernandinho/gundogan than pay 15M for wanyama

How about Yaya, Fellaini, Fernandinho, Barry and Milner ?

Milner is playing well as a winger :)

Fellaini: I think that Wanyama is better option than Fellaini to play alongside Yaya.

Fernandinho: Very good player, but Shaktar won't sell him for a low price. The priority is sign 1 midfielder, 1 winger and 1 central back.

IMO no need for CB when you have Kompany, Nasty, Lescott, Richards and Garcia.

I know Milner is doing well as a winger, but he won the best youth player award with Aston Villa as a CM and he said it himself that CM is his fav position.

Garcia said that CM is his favorite position as well.

A big, powerful player who is only 21.

Has he got passing like Pirlo? No.

He wins the ball and plays a simple pass to a better player. His short passing is very good. He's brilliant at tackling and wins the ball back so much. He's basically a taller, stronger version of Nigel de Jong.

He's been superb in the Champion's League. He was a monster against Barcelona in both games and last night against Juventus Pirlo didn't get a sniff.

I'd have him ahead of Javi Garcia and Gareth Barry.

this.

Any Serie A aficionados care to compare Wanyama to Obiang who according to this could be a primary target of ours? Who would be a better signing?

Obiang is the more sensible option with the African Cup of Nations looming every 2 years. Obiang's passing needs some work on though.
