She used to live in the flat about my wife's mate in Cheetham Hill when she started out. A working class genius from North Manchester [no-one is perfect] who detested the Tories and all other right wingers. The good go first.
Strangely enough, her political compass and all those she detests was exactly my first thought when I heard of her passing.

I cant remember a time when shes wasnt on tv. Not only an incredibly talented comedienne but a brilliant lyricist and musician. I loved her more serious work too - Housewife 49 while only an adaptation rather than all her own work was very good.

Very sad news. I can remember her being on New Faces. Took the wife to see one of her shows and it was funny.

Stunned. 2016 takes another celebrity and we aren't even through April yet !!! Victoria Wood was excellent from "Lets do it" to Acorn Antiques and the fabulous Dinner Ladies. Mustn't forget her role in the Eric and Ern biopic as Erics mum. She played with English like another Mancunian great Les Dawson - I for one will miss her for her quips and her serious side. As Tony would have said - " Night Bren..... "
