Victory day parade...Red square...2016...Impressive stuff.

I find these things a bit depressing. All those people, just cogs in the machine, a parade of conformity and celebration of war and destruction. I wish there was just one guy in a clown costume.

Impressive?

Pathetic more like. It is telling that China, Russia and North Korea have these silly parades and they are all undemocratic and authoritarian societies.

Imagine the outrage and ridicule if there was an annual parade like that in Washington DC.

The USA haven't got enough service people left in the country to hold a parade as they are all deployed on active duty fucking up other countries in pursuit of the neocons Project for a New American Century.

I understand what you are saying, and agree with your sentiment. I think you misunderstood my point.

What I find impressive is with thousands of people taking part, there is hardly a footstep out of place, must have taken many hours of practice.

Of course I understand these displays are ultimately just a willy waving excercise to say to other countries don't mess with us.

I would see it as a good way to tackle obesity, get all the porkers marching.

Just their version of trooping the colours is it not? difference is our army is tiny nowadays and a bit busy and do we not have military tattoos also each year?

the french have bastille day and the yanks have fleet day, India have republic day, in fact most countries have these military parades only the russians and china go a bit ott. As for north korea must be the most pointless of the lot

We could have a couple of old men on a bike day

That is awesome. Wish I could watch it live.
Saw the Friday night rehearsal live in Kaliningrad a couple of years back.
It is truly a sight seeing some of that hardware rumbling past.

Was fun trying to get the stag past them all when dressed in a skintight pink lycra bodytux without it kicking off.

We could do what the scum fans did at their parade a few years back.
Have the army march through Trafalgar Square then run round the back streets to join in again
Ad infinitum.
