Vieira - the offensive begins/Ferguson rant (merged)

You don't even know your own club.

Ferguson approached Scholes in mid December, as he was already at the training ground on a daily basis working with Warren Joyce.

A number of United players also tried to convince him to return.

The injuries were such, the official request was made. Scholes is not going to turn around and say he was right to retire, make United look bad.

Scholes has been shit, United have won in spite of him.

Take his Norwich goal out of the equation and all you are left with is the red-tinted spectacle brigade who feel the need to wank themselves silly when he makes a simple five yard pass.

How would you know if Ferguson was trying to convince him to return or not? All I can do is go on by what info is available in the public domain, and that info was that Scholes asked to return himself. Even if Fergie did ask him to return, I could then see where people are going with the desperation talk but it's not as if it was a bad or harmful decision. In fact many would say it would be a masterstroke from Fergie.

You say Scholes has been shite since he's come back? Complete and utter nonsense man. I'll be the first to admit that people are over hyping his impact, but to not admit that he's been at worst, very useful and at best, very good since his return is delusional.

Re: Vieira - the offensive begins!

Only me not seeing the difference between this and the usual shite the Rags have been spouting in the press on a weekly basis since, well, all season? Other than the fact it's Vieria so contains some genuine thought and substance of his own rather than another Fergie mouthpiece..

Stories were in the public domain at least two weeks before Scholes returned about his impending return.

I am also privvy to how it came to fruition.

As for form, again, I have been able to assess Scholes and I can tell you his impact has been great from a psychological point of view.

But as for his playing contribution, it has been nothing short of mediocre, a shadow of the player he was.

Outside of his usual diagonal at the base of the midfield, his still uncanny ability to feed on the rebound in the penalty area, there is nothing left.

Any pass of risk fails to meet its intended target, his passing stats are a falsehood, devoid of incisiveness, he's a figurehead, nothing more.

I would love to have seen Scholes against Athletico.

Carrick is the only midfielder you have of merit this season.

-- Wed Mar 21, 2012 11:41 am --

Captain Marvel is on the back of the MEN today insisting we don't have the experience to win it and can't handle the pressure.

Another fucking fraud of a footballer, given the romanticism of the United bullshit machine.

Re: Vieira - the offensive begins!

Scholes is only playing coz the rags midfield was decimated with long term injuries to Flecher, Zidane and Anderson. They had nobody available to step in, which is why Jones was playing center midfield at one stage. (Yes, the 19 year old center back from Blackburn)

Baconface was running out of options. Giggs and Carrick were doing okay, but Giggs can't play everygame. Park is shiote and Pogba is not ready. So, he took a punt on Scholes. Immediately, it looked like he'd made a mistake as was highlighted when James Milner picked his pocket and crossed for Sergio to score. Eventually, Scholes started finding his range again and he has been used to close games down and keep ball which he is very good at. They have also been able to rest Carrick who is having one of his best seasons in recent years. So in summary, bringing Scholes back has benefitted them this season, but I doubt he will be seen on the pitch after summer.

As Paddy highlighted, bringing back Scholes did show a sign of weakness in their squad.

Re: Vieira - the offensive begins!

Their team is weak this year - we showed that in the derby at the swamp and they were found out in both European competitions, simply because teams didn't go into the game fearing them.
It's pathetic to see how teams and their managers, surrender the points at the very thought of playing the twats, based solely on past glories - if only they watched the examples of teams like Athletico or even Blackburn, and realised that if you have a go at them, they're not 'all that'!
In fact this season, without Rooney they would have been fucked before Christmas - the fat, ugly, granny-shagging **** has carried them more than RVP has carried the Arse.
Hopefully they'll face a few teams with some backbone before the end of the season!

As for Paddy V... guy's a legend, so glad he's working for us behind the scenes.

Its what he says about Pogba that made me sit up.

Pogba is confirmed to sign though.

Anyway, Viera is right (and wrong). Obviously we all know that the weakest part of the rags' team is the midfield. They didn't sort it out in the summer, and that showed a lack of strength financially.

On the other side, their form since Scholes has returned has been pretty great, and it looks like it might well win them the title... but it is just papering over the cracks, unless they push the boat out and sign someone in the summer.

Fergie surely can't think that Zinedine Cleverley is the answer to their problems... or hopefully he does hahaha.

I never saw any stories in the media, even ragcafe never had thread about his return until ONE DAY before the derby.

Respect your opinon, Tolmie but that's absolute nonsense !
Paul Scholes' return to our side has been magnificent, the amount of times he has given the ball away since his return can be counted upon one hand. That's is exactly what he has been brought back into the side to do - keep the ball.
It's akin to 'outsiders' saying that Gareth Barry is 'shit' - all that lad does is keep the ball moving.

Maybe you're right mate.
But I wish we could show signs of weakness by bringing an elderly player back and winning the next seven league games right now.

What's Jim Whitley up to these days?

Hanging round the NatWest cash point in Chorlton

Re: Vieira - the offensive begins!

Destined for management and turned a job down with the Gooners to stay with us.

He knows which side of his bread is buttered...............
