Vieira V Keane Documentary

Didn't see this thread.
It was fascinating. The mutual respect they had was awesome. The clip of them smirking in the tunnel not cos they wanted to , but cos it just got the better of them. As I said in other thread on this, I hope one of our players goes onto forming such a fierce rivalry with another player , a rivalry that gets recognised like this.
Really enjoyed that.

I thought it was a cracking documentary of like many have days great footballing battles.. Paddy did come across as a nice bloke and always does. He is one of them characters that is good at what he does but his personality on and off the pitch are very different..
Keane on the other hand..I was there at that game and what he did to Alf was wrong.. But after listening to him tonight and the past few years I sort have come to like him. Not him as a person but I do get drawn to characters and have a respect for them. He wants to win and all the time.. He makes a decision in life and sticks by it. If he thinks he is right , he is right. If he thinks he is wrong I think he sort of holds his hands up..
Like where he says " I went in hard , but never my intention to Hurt someone badly" I honestly think he believes that.
Sportsmen and women who are winners are selfish but that's why they are what they are..
Like I say what he did was wrong to Alf but he was a good player who gave his all for his team. I hope we get more players with that attitude playing for the blues in the future .

Agree with everthing you said.
Paddy was a warrior and winner on the pitch but of the pitch very laid back and sweet character.
Roy keane for me is the same animal on and off the pitch. He can be bully and does not understand enough when he done things wrong. But you admire his passion for the game, his will to win and his honestly.

Both came across as men who cared about their clubs and who were winners. Shame so many modern players don,t care about winning or about the clubs they play for. All the hugging you see in tunnels now before games show that so many players treat a game with less passion then before.

Keane ripping into Neville, Scholes and Giggs as the "choir boys" xD classic.

-- Wed Dec 11, 2013 12:48 am --

The game is not as good as in the 90s for me, too nice.

Despite the character he had on the pitch, Vieira comes across really well. He's very eloquent and an intelligent man. I wish they let him speak more actually. Keane seems to really despise Fergie, I do find it quite strange but I think they have quite similar characteristics.

I agree but paddy a far nicer person then keane. Keane and fergies both bullies on and off the pitch.

Definitely, he was always a good guy despite his actions. Keane on the other hand...quite mental off it too.

It is too nice and players just more and more treat it as a job. When you see so much hugging going on before and after games between players is just despressing. You can,t imagine paddy or roy hugging it out after one of their epic battles. Shaking hands is fine but hugging dear me.

-- Wed Dec 11, 2013 1:02 am --

Paddy is a top guy and well liked. He left the passion on the pitch but off i think he pretty chilled out.

Roy keane is same on and off the pitch and to me as no off switch. Lives his life on the edge and that what make him unique. He also can be a bully straight talker who does not know when he upsets people .

Nice to see you still on here gooner :P getting a lot of stick last time i was here! hahaha

What do you think of tomorrow's game? (maybe take this to the Arsenal thread)

Great documentary and it's a rivalry I loved watching. They were both spot on about it being too nice right now, knowing two captains and the other ten players hate eachothers guts made football a much better spectacle. Vinny is very guilty (Wrong word I know) of being too respectful, that's because he's such a nice guy but on the pitch I wish he was more like Keane/Vieira. Come to think of it all the captains right of the sides love their clubs but do not have that edge about them. The only two captains I can think of with traits of Keane and Vieira are John Terry and Ashley Williams.

It was wonderfully made by itv so fair play to them. It is to nice but fair plays to kompanys, terrys and gerrads of this world. At least you know they care about the clubs they play for . None have edge paddy or roy had but at least they care. Can,t say that with most footballers now. Everyone so respectful but not enough desire to win now.

ITV made a cracking documentary on Mourinho similar to this one, well worth a watch. The Gareth Bale one they made I felt was too hastily compiled. He's only halfway through his story.

I really want to see an Arsene Wenger documentary, the man fascinates me.

Agree they done loads of good one like the mourinho and not just football. Did on both ronnie o,,sullivan and jimmy white which was top class. bale was too rushed as was the ronlado one in my view. Also did good one on gay rugby player thomas i think.

One on arsene wenger would be fantastic but think he too cautious of the pitch in interview to reveal to much behind his thinking. But it be great to find out. I think he do one when he retires.

Also love to see one about shane warne. guy had a amazing life.

-- Wed Dec 11, 2013 1:20 am --
