Villa Park 1981

Just seen this photo on the OS, and when clicked as Save Picture As, it saves it as mcfc%20kippax. Now I know this is the not a photo of The Kippax, I am 99.9% certain it is Villa Park at the 1981 FA Cup Semi Final.

One thing about my recollections of that brilliant day, was the number of City fans at Villa Park. We outnumbered the Ipswich fans, but just look how tightly packed in the Ipswich fans were in The Holte End, I know it is nearly 30 years on, but this begs the question, why weren’t City given more tickets for the Semi.

I was in that area and quite near fence but have never been able to see exactly where cos of the blues holding banners and flags, what right have they got to be all giddy and celebrating and waving stuff around? ha ha

What a great day that was remember as if it was yesterday .

I was due to be picked up outside Stretford Curry house was late like the knob I was ,luckily saw the car going down the other side of Chester road and caught it up .

Got my jumper ripped in half when Power sent us to Wembley and had to spend the rest of the day without a top on .

Got back home went in The Patio in Stretford with my City scarf on and got set on fire ( The scarf not me I managed to wriggle away or who knows )

Happy days , I'm filling up but it won't be long now till it all happens again and I probably will still be late .

was right behind the Paul Power free kit in the holt end, magic day as I recall. Strange when you look back as both teams played in their away strips , City in red and black stripes

The last 10 mins of the match were the longest in history! The joy of the final whistle was pleasure released.

Its one of those days i will never forget. Massive jam on the M6. Got out of the car with my late father and just stood there waiting and eating ham butties. Memories come flooding back.
