Vincent Kompany - 2017/18 performances

Well; they can replace him up to 24 hours before their first game, so I guess it's a no brainer for them to include him in the 23 man squad, which has to go in to FIFA today.
 
Got my fingers crossed for him. Realistically this will be his last tournament and I would love it if he was able to show what a great player and leader he is on the world stage.
 
Remember when all this injury stuff started. He went on international duty against the clubs medical staff's wishes. Then I believe he declared himself fit for games knowing he wasn't fully fit. Since Pep took over, he's took a very hard line on Vincent - follow Pep''s medical's team advice or you won't play. Vincent would get "fit" but Pep would give him weeks of 1st team training before he even selected him. The way it should be. Vincent has always said he'll put his country before all others and I do get where he's coming from. But if say in 2-3 weeks time, he risks a serious injury by playing in the world cup at less than 100% fitness, I think Pep will take the hardline with him and reduce his first team contributions dramatically.

Vincent is a very arrogant man. It makes him a great competitor but it also makes him not listen to his body. I wish him the best at the WC and that he doesn't suffer any more injuries. We still cannot rely on him whatever happens.

A lot of supposition there and most of it sounds wrong. I suspect that Guardiola is a lot closer to Kompany than you think

I don't doubt they are close. One is club captain and the other the manager. They have to be close. But this is purely about Vincent and the management of his injuries.. it's not all bad luck and some of it is self-inflicted. Pep will respect his wished to win a World Cup and will give him the upmost respect in the final year of his contract. However he needs a fully fit CB he can rely on, and I think that lends itself to a Stones/Laporte pairing next season. Stones World Cup might make his mind up on that.

I would disagree. With Ota having signed an extension, I see him as our 1st choice CB next season

I agree that Vinny takes his fitness seriously. I got to meet Vinny a couple of years ago and I had to wait for a couple of hours after training had finished because he had a specialist physio working on his weaknesses.

Yes Vinny has got injured playing for Belgium and during training for Internationals. It said something about the quality of the man that puts his Country first,

Doesnt play in Belgium knockout game then time to get shut.

Pep may hold of till World Cup is finished before signing another CH.

Minor injury is something Kompany doesnt have on average 2-3 months out aint good enough.

Only Otamendi played more than Kompany last season. He's a perfect 4th choice CB, brilliant on and off the pitch and content to not play all the time.
He's also a much better defender than Bonucci

My fear too. Martinez doesn't have the brains for this team, hence why he will rush players like Vinny back risking further injury.
Best thing for us is Vinny makes it through the next game and Belgium take a pumping

A slight stretch for the ball & he's I poured AGAIN!!!!

City won't wait again for him to get fit.

He breaks down again for me we can't afford to carry him.

I hope & pray Stones comes through this World Cup as without doubt him & Laporte are 1st choice.

Nico did great last season so we have good back up but Vinny is all but done.

Good to see Kompany playing in the WC. I'm rooting for them against Brazil - but it's a big ask.
