Vincent Kompany injuries

Btw this anger Twd's Vinny for playing for his country is just silly.

If the man can, he will play... As he should. That it happened playing for Belgium rather than City is just happenstance.

He was fine and decided to play then got injured. Just like he sometimes does when he plays for City.
Shitty luck he is made of glass. But he has to play when he can. If things go wrong so be it.

Can't walk around in fear of being injured.

Liverpool did test us until they went down to 10 and their manager shit himself. Shaktar could have caused us problems if they had a little bit of composure. Fuck me, even Palace threatened us a few times before falling apart after conceding. So yes, I'll wait until Saturday before proclaiming we're as solid as you think we are.
So Chelsea then. Is all you had to say :p

I'm waiting too... :)

I doubt anybody is on the same page as you. Fuck me, you're on another thread trying to claim you rate Sterling more than Pep. How big must your ego be to actually type those words and believe them?
For fuck sake dude, get off the pipe. By "saying I rate him more than Pep, this simply means I'd have played him more than Pep has so far.

And that wouldn't mean I would be right. Just like the multitude who have suggested Pep should start Mangala. Clearly, they rate Mangala more than Pep does. As This doesn't make them or I smarter than Pep.
That you drew the conclusion you did, says more about you than it does me.

If you say so. I was trying to turn over a new leaf and not be horrible about him but I try to phrase myself in a kinder way and you end up taking advantage and pushing me into being horrible about him again. :)
Don't be kind. Say it the way you mean it :)

What does it say?

If you start to look at all his individual actions (such as going for headers v Benteke with no hope of connecting) you start to spot more stuff & it makes no sense that we haven't let goals in.

But then on the other hand he & City, did some good stuff v Shakhtar, when they did get in behind us, preventing crosses getting through etc, so perhaps it's best to do what some on here do, & just not notice all the potentially disasterous mistakes, unless they actually cause disasters.

Utd are doing it with Phil Jones every week. They seem to feel confident enough, & are content ignoring it.
He's similar to Fernandinho in the sense that he plays very much on the edge in terms of gambling when making decisions. When he gets the timing right he looks really good, but when he gets it wrong, he exposes the full back line. Sometimes the mistake isn't even obvious but the problem it causes is huge. Both worry me to be honest, although has to be said Dinho was exceptional last night.

I heard last night from a reliable source that Kompany is causing major concerns behind the scenes and has suffered another setback. This may not be surprising to many but staff at City have decided that a permanent replacement is URGENTLY needed.
Virgil Van Dyke is being seriously considered as an immediate replacement.(as immediate as Jan anyway obs)
This comes on top of the worry for Mendy as we were already looking for back up. Names mentioned last night were Bertrand, Chillwell and Tierney. But with some of our players already on loan at Celtic it is felt we may have some bargaining power for Tierney.

"reliable source" f*cking sick and tired of that expression , the media use it all the time to berate our club.and its used to shit stir and promote negativity around the club , if you cannot name the source , don't start bullshit threads like this , you are no better than the slimeballs who write for the red tops. I've got a "reliable source" that the queues outside the ground before games will be sorted for the next home game ,the source is Billy Bullshitter

Ok you're being pedantic and picking on an individual word I used. To be clear I don't think otamendi has been wonderful at all this season. He's been ok most of the time and has been worryingly bad once or twice. He has the odd wonderful performance in him on occasion but I don't think he's good enough to be first choice CB which is essentially what he is, if Kompany is out for a lengthy period. Apart from anything he's just way too slow to play in our high line and that's before you factor in some of his decision making. If we have him starting most matches this season, I think we will struggle to win the league and won't have a chance of winning the CL. I apologise for using the word wonderful, it was a mistake, I don't think he's in any way a wonderful player.
The matches where Otamendi has been 'poor' are the matches where his lack of pace was exposed because he can't play the left side of a 3-man defence. In fact, I don't think he has the pace to play in a high line, 3-man defence whether he plays right, left or centre.

Switch to a flat back four and he has protection all around him and has done well so far. Pep has obviously seen this which is why we've reverted to a back 4, as the only sensible option we have in a back 3 is Mangala who Pep obviously doesn't trust. To a lesser extent than Delph, I think Mangala will proved invaluable this season. He may not be the ball playing CB Pep wants, but as a powerful brute of a player with a bit of pace, he gives us a 3 man defence option which Otamendi doesn't.

Can't walk around in fear of being injured.

You can with his fitness record. Kompany is a danger to himself & if he can't see that his body can only withstand so much punishment, & the punishment his body can withstand should be reserved for his employers, then we need to look after our own interests as it's obvious Kompany is mostly looking after his own.

We all get past it. There isn't a chance in hell you'd get me out on a football pitch trying what I used to do in my heyday, mostly because my body can't do that any more and couldn't withstand the punishment.

However, I've played the odd bit of 5-a side with similarly physically challenged mates, so none of us are trying to push our bodies beyond their capabilities. Kompany at most has 2 decent games a week in him & needs periods of rest & recuperation in between, & that isn't going to happen if he chooses to play international football during the periods when he should be resting his near 32 year old self.

We're Manchester City Football Club, & we're here to win trophies & titles, NOT look after players on the treatment table, so they can play International football. Kompany in this case should retire from club football & employ personal trainers to keep him fit just for Belgium Internationals.

Sound ridiculous? Well so does a man with a chronic injury record who keeps pushing his body beyond its limits in search of International glory above his obligations to Manchester City Football Club.

Both played well on the whole, I thought , but Fern was exceprional.

Strange how that has always been his accepted role at City, yet at Shakhtar, he had a Gareth Barry type character who sat behind him doing that job & Fern was one of the best in Europe, in a different role.

That's for a different thread though.

If he's not been playing for us because he's still injured then it would be a disgrace if he goes away and plays for them. If he's not playing for us because Pep is pissed off with him for getting injured last time or because he doesn't "trust" his fitness then I don't have a problem with him going at all. If we are choosing not to pick him when he's not injured then I'd have more of an issue with that than him going to play for Belgium. When and what was the last update on his injury?

We are very lucky to have him as our captain.

If he's fit he should play for Belgium. As I keep saying, he will retire from international football after the world cup anyway.
I guess at the end of the day it comes down to this, at some point City will say it's not worth continuing planning on this guy being fit and move on I think they very nearly did in the summer.

So for Kompany it comes down to do you risk becoming surplus to the clubs plans or not.....

and that is only something Kompany can answer, like 99.99% of the people here, I don't have a choice to make like that, but being captain (even if he doesn't play all the games) for a team that wins the World Cup might well be too much to walk away from.

If he doesn't play a single minute for us in between both international breaks but plays for Belgium who have already qualified then I do question Kompany. I'm a big fan of his and have never given him crap for playing for his country but this would be an unnecessary risk. I hope it's just a case of him going along for team building and he doesn't play because he will aggravate an issue which clearly hasn't resolved itself yet because the Belgium manager will play him the full 90 at every given opportunity.
