Vincent Kompany

I don't think the team as a whole have been at their best, so its unfair to single out Kompany. We seem to have a problem closing out games, and have conceded goals we wouldn't normally have done. However, as the old adage goes, form is temporary, class is permanent. Kompany will return to his best, he's too good not to.

He hasn't been great this season and I'm still shocked at him ducking out of the way for that last goal, he needs to get his shit together quickly.

Think he is just one of those players who takes a few games to find form at the start of a season also think you notice a dip in his form more because of how good he really is when playing at his best normal service resumed soon me thinks.

Last season:

Full pre-season with all the squad = Epic start to the season.

This season:

Euro's and Olympics mean next to no pre-season for almost all our key players/slow movement in transfer window = Slow start to the season.

Is that not so blindingly obvious to everyone else?

I could never see someone like Micah Richards ducking the ball in such a situation.

Vinnie had a similar spell just prior to the start of the season last year, community shield etc. I think it's just a case of he takes a couple of games to get up and running. I'm sure he'll be back to his stellar best soon enough.

this... I remember when Vinny was not Vinny the beast at the start last year, so I'm certain he'll be back to his usual self on Sunday or 1 game after.

As for Madrid's 3rd goal this wasn't Kompany's fault. He doesn't duck under the ball he avoids glancing it. The shot was struck powerfully by Ronaldo but was going to his, Kompany's, right. He doesn't have the time to get in front of it (try watching it a normal speed!). It's an awful dilema for a defender, do you try and intervene but risk deflecting it into your net? Kompany in a split second instinctively decides against touching it, and I believe it was the right thing to do; he was just unlucky the Hart was beaten by the dip of the ball.

Sorry , can't really agree with that ...

don't really like singling out any one player for criticism , but the Vincent Kompany of last season would have blocked that Ronaldo effort , and he should have 'stood tall' last night in the face of Ronaldos hopeful punt ...... you could clearly see from Joe Harts actions after the ball was in the net that he thought kompany SHOULD have dealt with it ..... the 'ducking motion' of Kompany clearly , and definitely , threw Joe Hart into confusion there.

Sorry, can't agree with that.

As I said he doesn't duck underneath the ball so what does standing tall have to do with it? Do you honestly think Kompany ducks out of the way because he doesn't want to get hurt!?

Why would the Kompany of last year done it any differently?

I'm so pissed off with City fan's need for a scapegoat for the defeat! Why is it so important to blame someone?

What has that got to do with VK?

Sometimes you guys are utter c****.He was playing in the Barnebeu for the first time and was going one on one against ronaldo because mancini changed it to a 3-5-2 and he also had a young lad playing beside him.Was better then pepe IMO.
