Vincent Kompany

In real time you can see Kompany running back while his defensive line stayed high - that's failing to hold your position...He effectively played Leo on...Plus, the 3rd goal that was incorrectly ruled offside was Vincent's fault as well

I thought he showed some terrific skills on the ball as well as speed but his positioning was ultimately poor - he's implicated in two major scoring chances, I think that makes it a bad night for him
So are you implying that kompany is not the best defender in the world??

no he is not the best there are others who proved more than him its not because he play for city that he is the best but for sure one of the best.

but when it come to football its more about the team as a whole even Boateng who was flop here is flying with bayern

I would say we faced harder games from Chelsea in the league at home (Fernandinho a big miss), Liverpool at home and Bayern at home

Right at the end of this clip he clutches his hamstring, the commentators picked up on it at the time and I did as well. He seemed ok for the rest of the match, I hope nothing comes of it and it's not another injury.

He was absolutely immense tonight. He had one moments lapse of concentration and it cost a goal, otherwise brilliant.

I must apologize... Of course Kompany leaves Messi onside, but he is paying attention to Fabregas.. If he joins the offside line, Fabregas is onside and will give an easy pass for a "PES goal" by Messi

The defence was just in a bad position due to Navas going heroball against 3 Barça players.. Thats why you don't lose ball in silly positions like Navas did (I did not think that bump of knees was a foul, the ball was far away)

Spot on.

For me, Kompany was the only one there who didn't fall asleep waiting for the referee to give the foul. He went back and took up the line he was supposed to, but unfortunately the others didn't. He then sees that the others haven't got back quick enough so tries to step up, but it's too late. All a consequence of the ref not giving the foul on Navas though, as almost everyone stopped

Exactly I spotted that after watching a few times, at first I thought he took an odd decision to step back but he is anticipating the ball out wide for Fabregas who was goal side of Zabaleta and he was trying to cover that. Navas took the wrong decision although the contact was enough to give a free kick based on similar fouls throughout the game. It was a case of Navas taking a risky option and putting the rest of the team out of position. It was the first time we left so much space because our players had marched forward to counter.

One of the biggest disappointments from this game is how Kompany won't get the recognition he deserves for that performance. If we'd kept it to 0-0 or squeaked a 1-0, everything else being equal, he'd have been fawned over from here to China. Anything that came into his zone he stopped dead, and to be fair Demichellis was little different until the sending off.
