Vinnie Jones’ 5 Second Yellow

I once was on an IT course with his ex-girlfriend from before he became notorious. She was quite fit but a bit of a geek - used to go to Star Trek conventions dressed up in Star Fleet uniforms. We were staying in the same hotel so chatted about him quite a bit. He was immensely determined to make it even whilst playing non-league and this was obvious in his play.
He certainly made the most of what talent/physique he had.
If I ever get a TARDIS I'm going back in time to shag and marry Vinnie Jones' fit geek ex who cosplays Star Trek.

Jones probably arranged a bet for the first yellow. A lot of that went on at that time. I remember a game when West Ham kicked off and the player kicked the ball straight out for a 3 second throw in. Bent as fuck.

It’s 32 years today since Vinnie Jones got a yellow card after only 5 seconds while playing against City. He later got sent off. It was one of the oddest starts to the game I‘d experienced at the time. We knew about Jones’ reputation but this seemed way over the top. Reid was his victim.

I think, in the end, it helped us get a convincing win that day. I’ve never interviewed Jones but I’d love to know what he was thinking.

If you need reminding there’s a match report and film of it here:
Thinking probably wasn't high on the agenda Gary.
That Wimbledon team certainly made the most of what little talent they had. Beating Liverpool in the fa cup final the highlight.

He was playing for Sheff Utd then but same applies.

Vinnie Jones was a thug. Wimbledon along with a Leeds almost destroyed English football.
