Vinny joins Anderlecht as player/manager (Simon Davies follows him)

Absolutely made up for him to go out this way after all his injury struggles. Back to his best, pushing us over the line, THAT goal and winning the lot. Just perfect and no one deserves it more.

He will be back one day

On one hand I'm gutted he's leaving and yet it just seems right. In retrospect the fact he walked off on his own ahead of the team during the lap of honour after the Leicester game was a clue so not shocked but still sad.
Also, does this mean we'll be playing Anderlecht in his testimonial match or has the opposition already been picked and I've just missed it? Play the 1st for us and the 2nd half for them?

Build him thr biggest statue possible. Absolute legend and one of the 5 best CBs in PL history,. Easily. When it comes to club achievements as a captain few match up. The FA Cup was the perfect way to go out. Damn. We will miss you Vinnie.

He deserves to go on his own terms and he is leaving us for a new challenge with his boyhood club
He has been more than our captain, he has led us and represented us with class and dignity and has driven us over the line over these past few months
For everything he has done a huge thank you
We will give you a testimonial in September to remember
Love the guy
Be successful in the future at Anderlecht and maybe see you back as our manager in the future
Thanks Vinny

Statues only attract pigeons. His statue is in memories of his leap in the air after his header v ManU, his boyish celebrations at the final whistle v QPR, his goal against Leicester. Or his captain's team talk in the tunnel before the second half of an F.A, Cup game a few years ago when City were 0-2 down at home, Vinny saying "come on, we're better than them" and City went on to win, though i forgot who that was against.
As for his move, never had time for the "who's your second team?" stuff, but if i were to have one now it would be Anderlecht.

"I choose to rebel against what an end wants to be." I'm not sure whether that's a footballing quote to live with "Football's more important than that", or more akin to "When the seagulls follow the trawler...."

It's almost Shakespearean. "I will not choose what many men desire"..." (Arragon, Merchant of Venice, Act 2)
