I think you're in a minority if you think Vinny staying would have been either selfish or a hindrance to our progression, especially with the Otamendi situation. His performance in them last few games (bar a sloppy first half against United) showed he's still near the top of his game and still a level above Laporte and Stones on his day, especially with Laporte probably not playing at his best the past few weeks of the season. Kompany's a big loss in the dressing room but especially on the pitch. We will do very well to be better off without him next season.

However, his injury record speaks for itself and he isn't the type to do a Yaya and pick up another year as a token sentimental gesture.

Decent player but not as good as Smalling, Phil Jones or Johnny Evans - seriously much has been said about the money we have available for players etc - and yeah you can buy talent - but you can’t buy passion, commitment, leadership and loyalty - very sad to see Vinny leave - had to happen eventually but at least he leaves having led us to our best ever season - good luck to you and your family skipper - sure you will be back with us in the future
