Vinny Kompany will save us millions

Said all last season he was a centre back and that's exactly what he is. For now I would put Lescott at LB and have Toure and Kompany at CB. Boyata's time will come.

Just out of interest I would love to know what Vinny thought of Hughes bending over backwards and paying £24m for Lescott last season whilst he was always here??
Toure is shite and the reason Lescott looks poor. I'd rather play Lescott with Kompany or maybe even get some World class centre half instead of piddling pennies on Championship players.

My Lass, a rag, even mentioned that Vinny and Dedryck did a cracking job on Rooney for most of the game and was well impressed with both.

I thought the same and yet at the end of the game Venables and Redknapp were wetting themselves at the 'sensational' Rooney and Giggs, both of whom were average at best!

well supose you have to speculate to accumulate...

imo he lost us a couple of million in winnings last night, he was nowhere to be seen all game, was asked at one point if he was playing and i said no think hes on the bench.

Think you should knock football on the head and start watching another sport mate

Vinnie was immense last night and has been pretty shit hot since he got a run in at centre half, despite the one little loss of concentration whilst 3 nil up and cruising against blackburn. VInnie was a fucking monster some of his headers, challenges (particularly close to the granny shagger a lot of the time) and composure on the ball. I said in another thread the other day that this guy can form part of a spine of our team and last night was an example why. TO think he's been doing the business and helping bring on a 19 year old kid beside him is encouraging

Vinnie and Lescott centre halves for me

opinions

just coz mine is not the same as yours don't mean i aint to have one!

Wouldn't disagree, I thought Lescott was playing well before he was injured. I'd spend the big bucks on a left back though. For me Bridge is the weak link and if we brought someone in I'd be delighted with Lescott and Kompany in the middle with Toure, Boyata and Onouha as cover.

Bridge is poor and Garrido maybe worse. I think both full back positions need sorting in the Summer.

have to agree, he was outstanding yet again! man of the match for me
he could play for any team in world centre half or holding midfield, just glad hes with us

I have never been that impressed with Micah but he is improving under Mancini and could well end up being a top RB

After a poor night I was going to make this my first OP because it is one of many reasons to be cheerful.

Vinny just oozes class.

He looks the part and he will learn quickly from the occaisional error. Ferdinand has made a career out of looking composed without really having the other qualities of a centre half. Vinny has the lot - witness his double block, countless headers under pressure and assured control and distribution.

I think the decision Bobby now has to make, is who plays along side him? I think he should go for Toure - with Boyatta as an understudy to the pair. We can try Lescott at left back and give Micah the right back side (motivation to concentrate should surely be a place on the plane to S. Africa).

With the new manager's belief in rigorous discipline our defensive problems could be sorted... now for that creative midfield role...
