Vinyl Records

I recently read that less than half of americans buying vinyl own a record player. I love the packaging and all that but yeah. I wouldn't play records much, even if I still had mine.
And worldwide sales of vinyl have now overtaken CD's

Still got all my vinyl from the 70s onwards, along with a quality 70s japanese turntable. Problem is it's all in the loft. One day..

Still got a highly valuable collection, but no record player!
Had my original collection stolen in a break in 1985.was absolutely wounded.two music friends" of mine were responsible. ..

A male and female duo...I learnt a valuable lesson about life that year.
Trust no- one...caught the male offender trying to sell the stuff he didn't want in Seletadisc 2nd hand record store at Market street Nottingham about a year later, had him by the throat while shouting at staff to ring the police..he struggled and got away but was eventually tracked down by Meadows CID.

By this time I had somehow managed to replace almost every disc
I now had a duplicate of every record, mostly new wave, and that led to me advertising rare tracks in Record Collector magazine 86/87

Every cloud has a silver lining!

I read this story in the UK about this bloke finding a way into next doors loft, taking the odd rare vinyl LP and flogging it on ebay....
It'd be a struggle to get in my loft. An even bigger struggle to find the records, I don't even know where they are amongst all the stuff..!

Got any Depeche Mode white label/promo?

I recently inherited 3000 vinyl records from the 50's and 60's. Contacted some people but they only willing to give me 40% the worth and I have to hope they being honest. Going through and getting a price myself though is a commitment I'm just not going to make

Auction them. Omega are good.

A list, if you have the time, is also a good start.

An lp came out yesterday and was sold out by the time I tried to buy it at like 11am. Will be on discogs for silly money today. Does my head in!

3000 though me old mucka
Yeah...it's a pain. The trouble you'll get is record shops will pay around 40/50% of true value. Buy in bulk places around the same.

To narrow it down I'd ditch the 50's...no one wants them anymore as they sold by the bucket load unless there's blues/ early rock or Elvis singles on Sun! Then sort the 60's into what you know and what you don't. Use discogs to get a random sample of prices across the board.

Unfortunately, if you don't have the time or the inclination then maybe a record shop is the only answer. Good luck mate.

Getting prices for them individually and selling what you feel they’re worth sounds like a nice little project.

Researching them 50 at a time is achievable. Get someone to help you and split any profit.

I have started selling on discogs and I can't believe how quickly stuff is selling
Ages ago I started putting up on there records etc I have in my collection. Just as a reference tool but occasionally I get messages about stuff and if they are for sale. There’s some nuts prices out there, my mate has a Frank ocean lp that’s going for over 1k now

Just been to discogs for the first time to see what my copy of Love, Forever Changes is worth out of interest, fuck me there's about 50 fucking versions...need a week to work it out :)

Today I received the new Ultramagnetic MCs lp, David Axelrod and Freddie Gibbs. Let the good times roll
