Viral LeBron James x City player profile photos

Whilst I'm not particularly a basketball guy either, if we're talking the most boring sport on earth then cricket would like a word! You'd have to pay me an awful lot to sit through 5 days of that shite.

But back to the LeBron thing, clearly I'm out of touch and had to get my nephew to explain what it's all about.
I think quite a few would disagree about your thoughts on cricket.

I’d watch basketball over cricket.

I’d watch marbles over cricket.

5 days of nothing then call it a draw when it rains.

I see cricket like fishing….you go for everything else rather than the sport/pass-time itself.

You are right though lots of people like it especially in Asia.

You think the only cricket played is 5 day tests? That is probably less than 1% of professional crickets.

I was watching the ODI World Cup Final when we beat NZ in 'that' final.

It was on at the same time as Federer-Djokovic were thrashing out another Wimbledon final and a crowd were watching that in an adjoining room.

In the end there were only 2 left in the tennis room and 14 watching the cricket - it had started out 8 in each room.

That SuperOver - dare I say it? - was even more comic-book than Agueeerrrrooooo!

That outfield throw ricocheting off Stokes' bat - you really couldn't make it up.

Isn't there a lad from Stockport who plays basketball or hockey or something? I think he is or was playing at quite a high standard, possibly.

And based on social media, he’s one of the most well known athletes in the world. Maybe the US is more sports obsessed but I find people here generally know top athletes even if they don’t watch or like the sport. Like, i don’t know a single person that couldn’t name Halaand, even if all they know is he plays “soccer.” Same with things like F1 which are more niche here.
You are not more sports-obsessed, you just like local sports more than global ones.

If Eton was in the States, you'd probably get all excited about the 'Eton Fives World Championship'.

I was in Florida when the greatest Olympian of all time Steve Redgrave won his 5th consecutive gold medal and I couldn't find any coverage of it, anywhere, because the USA hadn't won the event.

Why the fuck is this shite in the main City Forum... Stick it in Off Topic where it fuckin belongs.

Yes, that is part of it I’m sure. We have a lot of friends that grew up in the UK and came here as adults and they obviously all have football teams they follow. But now they’re big fans of American football teams and basketball, etc. too. It is really easy to watch all sports - even global ones - here. It’s easy to watch all the PL games and most games from other football leagues. I’m sure I could find cricket and rugby without much effort or cost.

I don’t mean to suggest any American superiority (god knows I feel exactly the opposite these days) or be offensive, I just find the sports culture in different parts of the world really interesting. I mean, I’m an American woman who couldn’t find enough city content elsewhere so found myself here and I really enjoy the discussions here about what it means to be a fan and to grow up in the football culture that exists in the UK.
