Well Pep obviously likes VVD, we are throwing money around this summer so it looks like we are desperately trying to give Pep the squad to compete right at the very top of Europe so I'm surprised we aren't all over him before Southampton cave in to Liverpool. I assume it has reached a stage with VVD that whilst Liverpool may be his preferred destination, he has burnt his bridges and pretty much needs a move so I am sure he would come to us and I am sure Southampton would rather deal with us. Klopp turned his head when they met but as you said earlier, it's not as if he isn't going to be impressed if he meets Pep. We should just go for it and give ourselves the chance of a huge season now, whilst we have Pep in charge. I'd hate for him to leave after three years with most of it being a long transitional period because we didn't sort out the whole defence when we needed to. I still think we will be underwhelming overall if we have to play a significant number of games or more to the point any truly significant games (ie Monaco at home) with Stones and Otamendi as our CB partnership, no matter who we have signed as full-backs and no matter how many attacking options we have.
