Think we would find it difficult keeping kompany, otamendi, stones and van dijk all happy

Agreed but is it sensible to plan around what makes Kompany happy at this point? I think the club have kept his place for him for a couple of seasons now and unfortunately it's had a detrimental effect in the face of his long term absences. They've shown a lot of loyalty to him, which he deserves, but we cant carry on like this.

Laporte can sod off. Had his chance. Didn’t want to come here. Fuck him.
Don’t understand the anti-VVD sentiment. He has that most precious of Pep ingredients, effortless comfort in possession. You don’t think Pep can mould him into a stand out performer like Stones? I do

I could see Pep turning him into a player that would merit the price tags being bandied about.

I like Otters and adore Kompany but a Stones / VVD partnership would be a relatively young pairing in CB terms and could grow into something very formidable.

Exactly. Wish it wasn't true but it is, so it isn't a problem keeping 4 happy, just 3.

Even so, I'm not sure vvd is the answer. His attitude since the summer has been sadly lacking. Have a look at his premier league comeback match after the strop, disgraceful. And I see he wasn't good recently either. I'm sure we can do better.

All VVD's recent form proves is that he is human and not a machine. I don't know all the in's and out's and I wouldn't say it reflected well on VVD but I'm sure it can be tough to be at your best if someone is forcing you to work somewhere that you don't want to. Does that mean he is not mentally tough enough for our team? I really don't know but playing for a team you don't want to and winning with one you do are emotionally different challenges.

I spoke to a Southampton fan who said he's actually been pretty good most of the time this season (if not as eye catching as before), just had a few poor games which have attracted a lot of attention because of the transfer situation.

Much as I hate to say it, I think this is his last season with us.

I trust Delph more than I do mendy defensively. Delph has been rock solid apart from one goal against united, although you could say it was otamendis fault. Mangala is still the problem for me.
Delph has made a few mistakes, the one against Saints springs to mind, an experienced defender wouldn't have let that ball bounce. His overall game play more than cancels it out though.

Mendy is young and new to the league. Will be top class given time. Beast of a player.
