Yeah but he'll add a zero or near enough on his weekly wage..... mercenary is the word that springs to mind. He'll start every week at Southampton and win the same thing.

Virgil Van Dijk? Decent player but not worth £70 million.
The idea of purchasing him to weaken Liverpool's future hopes doesn't stack up for me. They are not guaranteed Champions League football next season and until Liverpool get a decent goalkeeper, 2x centre backs and a holding midfielder they'll always be a shambles in the starting third.
I've watched Leicester's last two matches against us and the Rags in full and no doubt Pep and the backroom team will have as well. A defender has caught my eye - younger, English and will be cheaper than VVD. He has shown he can pass the ball, can head the ball and can dribble with the ball. Like John Stones, a very un-English defender. Not to mention commendable never-say-die attitude. He's not complete, but Pep can improve his game enormously. Not saying he's better than VVD at this moment in time but just putting it out there. You only have to look at the transformation in Otamendi and Stones to see what coaching and developing players can result in.
Yeah agree but if VVD goes for 70m this lad who Leicester payed 30m for from Burnley will go for similar just because he is an England international 24/25 years old plus a left sided centre back which are hard to find.
You’re thinking of Keane who went to Everton, Maguire moved to Leicester from Hull for £12mil
Yeah you right regarding hull and the fee but I was also thinking about Harry Maguire wonder what we would get him for if Pep is interested in him. 30m? Reckon they would want 50m
Not the fact hes been one of the best defenders in the country the past couple of years and was brilliant for celtic?Maguire was signed for £12m, possibly rising to £17m. £40 million tops is a fair price. £20m profit in less than a year. Still £30m cheaper than VVD and with greater potential to develop under Pep.
I get the feeling the VVD situation is just so City can stop Liverpool or Chelsea strengthening rather than us improving. That's not a good way to operate IMO.
