It looks like our interest is genuine, and if he had already made up his mind to go to Liverpool then we’d presumably have been told and would’ve distanced ourselves. He could, of course, just be using our interest as leverage to get a better contract at Anfield though. Still think it’s more likely that he’ll go there, but will be interesting to see how it plays out. Presumably Southampton will want a quick sale rather than dragging it out over January.

I don't rate him that highly but it's not up to me so...

If he'd be happy to take Mangala's role in the squad then that's fine by me, I certainly rate him higher than him. The fee means fuck all, if the club's happy to spend it then go for it.

Plus, it could hopefully knock a few million on to any United targets.

So if rumours are true that he’s on his way with us and Liverpool vying for him,Liverpool would be front runners going by his quotes at the start of season about wanting to play for klopp, but could Southampton decide fuck it under no circumstances we will sell to Liverpool after all the bollocks about meeting klopp in Blackpool, and say to us give us. £60mill and he’s yours unless of course he’s set on Liverpool and won’t consider us an option..

I bet our form this season would certainly give him something to think about.

I have heard the quotes about his form, but I personally can't really compare how he plays under a different coach, in a different team. Just see how Pep has transformed players in our side.

I really don't care about money either, we know that everyone that we go after suddenly increases in value, so it is now just an occupational hazard. I just trust the judgement in Pep, the addition of a few players over the summer, has totally transformed us into the best team in Europe. VVD will be one of the last requirements, just so we are not stressing when one of our CB's are injured, as we can no longer count on Kompany's fitness.

The thing is we aren't a team who usually does business without having personal terms and such agreed upon.

Have to agree 20m possibly 30m tops, hes been shit this season. Saints have been terrible at the back and so has he. Just cause the mickeys want him doesn't mean he's any good. Tosin deserves his chance ahead of the overrated VVD. Hell he was shit two seasons ago aswell that's why he went to Celtic.

He was class for Celtic and has been class for Southampton. Best opposing centre back I’ve seen at the etihad for many years. He’s had a dip in form this season, I wouldn’t say shit, but that doesn’t mean anything. Maybe it does suggest his attitude is a bit questionable and he’s underperforming because he wants a move. We bought a raw John stones for £45m and he wasn’t having the best of seasons at Everton before he signed for us, look at him now.

I highly doubt he said that. Any source??

It was reported he preferred Pool but I’m sure the original reports came from... you guessed it.. Liverpool. It’s just propaganda. No professional has this fairytale preference for a certain club.

Yes every player had a childhood club but once you make it, you look out for yourself. You make choices based on the future of the club, the manager, the current players, the chance to win trophies, wages etc etc etc.

Sure De Bruyne was a fan of Pool as a kid but if they put in a bid now, does anyone think he would actually make the move??? Of course he wouldn’t.

Liverpool is a stepping stone club these days. That’s why Coutinho will likely go to Barca. Salah will also jump at the chance to go to Real. Naby will go there and probably move on after a season or two. Their owners are similar to Arsenal, no ambition to win the league. They won’t spend enough. That’s why they got reported by Soton, tried to be smart and get VVD to force a move to them in order to drive down the price so they can get him for cheap and it backfired. What is their record signing?? Probably Naby next summer. They won’t win the league anytime soon.

Liverpool refusing £140m for Coutinho shows ambition. If they'd have taken the money & spent it like Spurs spent the Bale money, then they could be accused of having little ambition.

They've fought to keep their best players whilst being in for a better calibre of player than those they want to replace. Give them another season or 2 & they'll be breathing down everyone's necks for the title, as long as they retain their best players.

£140m?? I highly doubt they bid that much. I remember reading the actual bid was around 100m.

Had it not been a World Cup year they would of sold. Coutinho is having a good season and needs to continue doing well or could easily lose his WC place.

So Coutinho plays well this season and does well in the WC with Brazil and his value goes up even more. Brazil have a great chance of being champions. Only logical thing to do was refuse all bids for him. I said this in the summer. This was the only option from a business point of view.

Refusing to improve a weak defense and keeper also shows little ambition. Don’t believe the propaganda, they could challenge if they keep their best players, buy VVD and another CB, buy some fullbacks, a DM and keeper. Can’t see that happening so can’t see them challenging.
