Clever timing this. We get a player who will improve us but who’s not cup tied. We get a player who will be cheaper than in the summer when all the big teams will have money to spend. VVD gets half a season to get used to the system and win some trophies.

Said for about 3 seasons now when Kompany goes this is the guy I'd like. Stones is class on the ball & developing in other departments nicely. Otamendi is a monster in the tackle & his passing has improved no end. Van Dijk though is the big physical brute who I hoped Mangala could be for us, except he's far more comfortable on the ball which means he'd actually fit into our style.

Our squads looking a bit silly though (in a good way), we're already rocking a bench of Bravo Mangala Danilo Toure B. Silva Gundogan & Aguero at times - Mangala/Toure being the "weak" players there, if we add say VVD, Sanchez & Goretzka as our 3 signings there's not even room for one of them on the bench. Hard to see that being manageable, but hey, the players all seem happy enough this season & like I say we've already got a crazy strong bench as is.

- Saints ITK: “Van Dijk transfer is already agreed - all I know is that’s it’s definitely not Liverpool”

- also definitely not playing for saints anymore so he is definitely being transferred somewhere next month
