I received a message from Facebook from a friend and downloaded it only to find out it was spam or maybe some sort of virus or adware problem. Now when I go to google I don't always and put in say Facebook and then click on it, it takes me to <a class="postlink" href="http://www.find-unpoetic.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" target="_blank">www.find-unpoetic.com</a> or sometimes <a class="postlink" href="http://www.monstermarketplace.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" target="_blank">www.monstermarketplace.com</a> etc.

I've got Mcafee and run a number of scans but it can't find anything...I've checked I'm up to date on McAfee and I am.

Anyone got any clues how to get rid of it?

Cheers

I've got that too ..... it's pretty impressive.

Another exceptionally good one is Kasperskys ...... if you download their online scanner it's usually really ' on the ball '....... it's probably the best one you can buy with a success rate of catchin' 'nasties' that's said to be around 98%.

for toatl protection and the best around atm is nod 32,try that if you can get hold of it.

Kaspersky is the way to go...

It is considered the best anti-virus/anti spam product on the market at the moment. It also updates itself more frequently than any other Virus protection software out there, which means it helps to keep you computer safe and bang up to date.

Haha yup! Our company are becoming resellers of Kaspersky shortly so when the deal is done i will be able to get cheap legal copies for people. Will keep you updated with our progress :)

If you cannot access Google or Facebook, yet other less poular sites, that's definitely you're problem.

You should really be running virus and spyware scans daily nowadays, especially if you "acquire certain files economically".

Well I seem to have it sorted now. I've done a number of things. Downloaded SuperAntiSpyware which removed quite a bit of stuff. Then downloaded the Microsoft Windows ones and that removed a few things. Also downloaded (paid for this one though) Adware Alert which also removed a few things. I already owned McAfee but it's not been that great really.

I did look at Kasperskys but you had to switch off McAfee and I was a little worried about that.
