I have got AVG and Avast, is that enough to secure my computer?

Probably, but having 2 antiviruses is a bad idea because they detect each other as viruses and can potentially mess up your PC.

It's as simple as this ....... NOTHING will protect your computer completely.

But there are programs that will do much better than others in detecting 'nasties' ...... however you usually find that you have to pay somethin' for quality , and with anti-virus protection it's no different ....... so the better programs like kaspersky(which is said to detect around 98% of nasties) , or superantispyware , amongst others , come into this bracket .... they DO cost a little , but they detect more.

Free programs like AVG , Spybot , and Ad-aware etc will detect around 60% of 'nasties' ..... they are suffice for the average computer user , and will get you by .. but they certainly aren't the best available ......... but yes , you shouldn't have too many problems with what you've put on.

However as Halfpenny quite rightly points out ...... don't run too may many different anti-virus scans at the same time as they will conflict each other to the point of detectin' very little individually!

This is what i use on my pc's (2 desktops, 1 laptop) and i never have problems with any spyware/viruses on my pc, and im on it 24/7.

Antispyware

Spybot search & destroy, (use the immunise feature)
Ad-aware,

Antivirus

Avira personal antivirus,

IMO this is by far the best Antivirus program out there by a mile (better than most paid for programs), it can be annoying as it auto updates daily and gives you a big splash advert everyday. How ever you can configure it to only auto update once a week so you don't get that advert popping up everyday.

Firewall

Comodo firewall pro

This is a fecking brilliant firewall with anti-spyware software built into it.

I'm telling you fella I've got Norton suite here with a full legit licence that someone gave me and i wont touch it as it isn't a patch on all those free apps combined together.

P.S. Don't buy kaspersky, I'm not saying its a bad antivirus software because its not its brilliant to an extent. The problem i find with it, is its to over protecting as you get a lot of false positives with it.

Actually a good router with a firewall, and upto date computer and a decent antivirus with real time scanner will block out 99.9% of all threats, i personally recommend Symantec Endpoint. Excellent program.
