Is that flamethrower for the bees nest or relighting the barbie!

We once had a cavity wall full of those giant flying ants never could get rid of them so we just left them, magical sight when they all came out over about 3 days and swarmed off everywhere, thousands of them, think its about July they swarm

We have some it drives the dog fucking nuts ... they are called mason bees (as they live in the masonry not because they have one trouser leg rolled up etc) they are believed to be quite docile as they tend to be the ones who have lost their hives etc. i have just left mine.. cant remember why but i was told not to block up the entrance until november or something.. anyway they dont seem to be doing any harm.. apart from annoying the dog as i mentioned.

Oooh fuck already blocked the hole.

Do they sting ? I am just worried about the kids poking them with stick or annoying them somehow.

Do they sting?
Do bears shit in the woods?
Just about the dumbest thing I've seen on here for a while.

If it's mason bees, you've no problem. They're solitary bees and will cause you no bother.

If you've lots of bees then it's a stray swarm and you should take my earlier advice.

Would be a good life lesson for the kids, I would say. Don't poke things you're not sure about!

Will stand them in good stead for their adult life too!

If I know one thing about inter-nets, it's that every thread about bees must contain this gif;

Oprahs-Bees.gif

sounds like you have masonry Bees. these differ from normal bees in so much as they burrow into sandy mortar joints and nest. saw a wall affected by it last week. Best remedy is to rake out/repoint the wall.

Upload some pics Mike.

Can't hole has been sealed but I have looked them up on google and they are furry bee like and some are bit red looking. No doubt they are masonory bees. I have PM'd you BTW.

PM'd you back Mike. Don't worry.

I've had wasps investigating nooks and crannies in my exterior walls. Caught a couple crawling in and out of one of the little round tubes in between the bricks. My house is a new build and the tubes are there to allow the house to breathe? Are they nesting or just looking for food?

They sound like Bolivian bees, you know what's coming right?

-- Sat Jun 08, 2013 5:11 am --

Hard to say really, I had a couple of wasps nest in my attic in the UK over years and that was a new build house. Never really caused an issue though as we didn't use the attic much.

See them making a home in new builds all the time , as has already been said they are docile they just get on with working as a colony out mooching about we were digging out for services at a house just this week they were in the trench hovering about around me . Free the Bee`s man , the kids at the house I was working at were fascinated by them , the homeowner has left the window fit out until they mooch on .
