Yeh am absolutely gutted, If somebody had of saying to me during the week 'your not going the manchester derby because of a volcano in iceland' I would of pissed myself laughing of the stupidity!

I cant believe it!

I really feel sorry for anyone who misses out because of this but the risks are very real to the planes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Airways_Flight_9 I remember seeing this on Air Crash Investigation
It was found that City of Edinburgh's problems had been caused by flying through a cloud of volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Galunggung. Because the ash cloud was dry, it did not show up on the weather radar, which is designed to detect the moisture in clouds. The cloud sandblasted the windscreen and landing light covers and clogged the engines. As the ash entered the engines, it melted in the combustion chambers and adhered to the inside of the power-plant. As the engine cooled from not running and as the aircraft descended out of the ash cloud, the molten ash solidified and enough broke off to allow air to flow smoothly through the engine allowing a successful restart. The engines had enough electrical power to restart because one generator and the onboard batteries were still operative; generator or battery power is required for ignition of the engines.

That is just sick luck.

The snow for the postponed derby in January and now volcanic ash. I bet there are a few who have been hit by that double whammy. I think I'd be putting my foot through the telly with all the news coverage on it.

Anyway, good luck to all the overseas Blues who are still in with a chance of getting here, my fingers are crossed for you.

Doublw whammy is right!

Am just watching the news now and theres a bit more hope now than there was earlier on, Cork and Shannon airports in Ireland have been lifted with immiediate effect, Dublin airport was going to give more information at 1.00pm tomorrow and now have changed it to 11.00am in the morning so thats a good sign i suppose.

Am nervous and sweating even thinking about it, I need a bottle of Volcanic water!

Looking a lot better then mate. I have a mate who is flying from Belfast on Saturday morning whose flight is in jeopardy as well. The danger could be delays caused by the backlog, but you would hope the domestic flights will resume as normal.

I would try hi-jacking one if they cancel it, it's got to be worth a shout.

Flights SHOULD be back on after 7pm tomorrow evening, so those flying in Saturday morning SHOULD be okay.

Don't really care about volcanoes in Iceland to be honest. Doesn't affect me. If the fuckers start erupting in ASDA or Tesco's though, I'll be well pissed off!

Sorry, I'll leave now.

I think thats best.

Get your coat, Dont pass go and dont collect £200 from the bank

Emirates air just called to say my flight has been rescheduled and they can fly me out of Dubai on the 23rd!!!!

WTF!!!

Anyway, good news is that the club (who gave me the ticket) have also been intouch and offered me a ticket for Villa or Spurs so I will now try to get over for one of those games :)

I've given up and resigned to the fact we won't be at the game.
Should have flown yesterday, rescheduled for this morning and that's
cancelled. I'm pretty sick myself but my 10yr old lad is inconsolable.
