It should be a separate thread or it will get lost in the Labour Government hread. Hence why I created this one.Its debated in the Labour thread.
It was in there manifesto and yes a good idea.
Let’s be honest, there are much older people with no real world experience and many with real experience but don’t vote at all.A big no from me.
No real experience in the world.
And actually the brain isn't fully formed by then - indeed it isn't fully formed till the age of 25. - 18 is lots better but it but still a way to go.
You can't die fighting in a war till you're 18 either though you can join the armed forces at the age of 16. But if you can die in a war you should be able to vote.
You can't drink or buy a lottery ticket till you're 18 either.
Hope so. Don’t agree with this “ cannot be named” nonsenseWill they be tried as adults if they commit a crime then?
And those saying good idea know they vote left? Those saying bad idea translates as teeneagers generally down vote for the right wing or cranks.
I am undecided if it is a good ide or not tbhAnd those saying good idea know they vote left?

Me too but we know labour pushed it through because they know younger people are more left leaningI am undecided if it is a good ide or not tbh
Shame Starmers labour aren't ;-)Me too but we know labour pushed it through because they know younger people are more left leaning
Is that bad ?What if a sixteen year old wanted to go from the ballot box to Corals to bet on his chosen party winning the election, having nipped into the pub for a pimt whilst sitting outside and having a ciggy..... It cannot happen can it?
We have it inScotland and apparently Wales , hasn’t caused any problems,as far as I’m aware no party are campaigning to remove it or any fuss about it but got young people engaged. By the time there's been n election it will be forgotten about and everyone will wonder what the fuss was about.Fine with it.
At 16, you're finishing school and about to start picking a path in life, things like Brexit they deserved a say on.
My nan's in her mid 80's and hasn't got a Scooby Doo what's going on in the world. Whilst she has life experience, there will be 16 and 17 year olds out there more informed than she is.
