Labour wants to introduce legislation to allow 16 year olds to vote at the next election.
Opinions?

I think it will have no effect. How many are there? How many will register and vote?

A big no from me for so many reasons:

No real experience in the world.
The brain isn't fully formed by then - indeed it isn't fully formed till the age of 25. - 18 is lots better but it but still a way to go. But when has a brain counted in voting?
You can't die fighting in a war till you're 18 either though you can join the armed forces at the age of 16. But if you can die in a war you should be able to vote.
You can't drink or buy a lottery ticket till you're 18 either.
You can't drive till your 17 as well.
And will 16 year old be able to be tried as adults At the age of 16 as a result?

No it's a bonkers idea frankly.

Brill innit!

No. Countries need to set an age limit at which you are considered an adult…old enough to drive, drink, smoke, go off to war, and vote.

One age, where society agrees “You’re an adult and we are going to treat you like one…and all that entails, including the legal responsibilities that come with it,” and then let them be held to account for their actions, including their vote.

Let’s be honest, there are much older people with no real world experience and many with real experience but don’t vote at all.

The current system is far from perfect, but what do you think should be the criteria to vote?

Should it be compulsory
Should it be only taxpayers and pensioners allowed to vote

Those saying bad idea translates as teeneagers generally down vote for the right wing or cranks.

Fine with it.

At 16, you're finishing school and about to start picking a path in life, things like Brexit they deserved a say on.

My nan's in her mid 80's and hasn't got a Scooby Doo what's going on in the world. Whilst she has life experience, there will be 16 and 17 year olds out there more informed than she is.

What if a sixteen year old wanted to go from the ballot box to Corals to bet on his chosen party winning the election, having nipped into the pub for a pimt whilst sitting outside and having a ciggy..... It cannot happen can it?
Is that bad ?

We have it inScotland and apparently Wales , hasn’t caused any problems,as far as I’m aware no party are campaigning to remove it or any fuss about it but got young people engaged. By the time there's been n election it will be forgotten about and everyone will wonder what the fuss was about.

The funny thing about the frog faced grifter moaning like fuck about this is the fact that the minimum age to join reform is 16 and they have a councilor just turned 18 they chmpioned as the future of britain.
