I am not sure if this is possible, but I was just thinking that I would be a good idea to have a voting tool on this forum. I think we have a decent number of fans visiting the forum and therefore we represent a good sample of all city fans. so, surveys would definitely be helpful in showing what fans think about issues related to city.

Discussing on the forum is indeed good to exchange ideas, but it does not show a clear picture of the percentage of fans that hold this or that opinion. Take balotelli for example, you can find positive and negative things written about him all over the forum but you can never know whether the majority like him or not, you can only guess. So, we could easily get around that and produce percentage figures (even approximate) if we organize a survey of what fans think about him.

Similarly we could do the same and organize a vote on what people think about the current situation with tevez, what the fans position should be and how the club should treat him, etc.

Your thoughts are welcome.

I think this is a good idea. Painting a clearer picture about everything would certainly help. It's never good when the loud opinions of a few are portrayed (or taken) as the opinion of the whole.

↑In most forums, the OP can choose to have a vote on his thread and he chooses the options.

It works like this but in a voting application format thingy built into the forum:

Thread: Should Balotelli start on Saturday

Poll: should balotelli, etc.

Yes

No

Come on as substitution

----

And then you can click one of the options provided in the specific thread.

Voting on subjects won't prove anything , people will only vote on subjects they feel strongly on and who would decide what subjects to have a vote on?

To your first question, surveys would give an idea about how city fans think about subjects related to city. I think thats information worth having. Take the tevez case and assume we organize a survey to which more than 1000 fans participate, and the result of which is that 80% of the fans no longer want tevez in the club, thats a very relevant info to have and to be even shared with the club management.

To your second question, thats something to be decided. subjects open for vote could be started by anybody who is entitled to start threads, and if the subject open for vote is relevant, you will definitely see people giving their opinions. Else, we could limit it to the forum moderators. I am sure you have seeing votes on facebook, we could do something like that. An other example could be, after each game we could organize surveys related to the performance of the team, and participants could simply select an answer out of 4 (great, good, average, poor). we could do the same and give a mark for each player's performance

Replying to subjects won't prove anything , people will only post on subjects they feel strongly on and who would decide what subjects to have a thread on?

Do you see why this doesn't work? Not to mention that voting is about a million times easier than actually thinking out a short reply that evolves into a 2,000 word diatribe.

I really like the idea of players ratings after each match , i'd have a box next to each players name where you'd put marks out of ten , it would be interesting to see the totals for each player over a season.

I'd make it a vote only thread ( on the subject ) comments would just turn it into just another thread.

I think Ric disabled the voting tool to stop people making a poll on what they should have for their tea, and other such mundane nonsense.
