Agree with Dovestones. Went a couple of months ago. Lovely walk.

By Dovestones, do you mean the reservior and areas around it? Or is there another bit

Yes, it's less full of bird shite and people leaving rubbish all over the place but has less facilities (Bogs, an ice cream wagon & a mobile catering van). It's best to bring your own food or go to a pub with a beer garden afterwards.

Good shout, know of any decent pubs near by?

Your best bet with kids will be 1. Roaches Lock, it's on the canal side on the way back into Mossley. You've also got the 2.Kingfisher, which is a newly built gastro pub, also on the canal side on Chew Valley road. Then there's 3.The Clarence, which is at the roundabout at the bottom of the road.

1. Will do best pub grub
2. May have good offers e.g. 2 for 1 but is a gastro pub and can be either good or crap.
3. Don't know, think it's been taken over a couple of times in past few years and don't know what it's like for with kids in daytime.

3. Out of dovestone, down hill, on roundabout at bottom.
2. as above, turn right at roundabout, over a mini roundabout, on right hand side just before road bears left & climbs (next to Tesco)
1. As no.3 straight on at roundabout. On left after about a mile and a half from Clarence roundabout.

Personally I'd choose Roaches Lock.
