The sense of community ..... i grew up on a street where front door keys were rusted in their locks ... where neighbours would knock and let themselves in . Where kids all played out till 9 / 10 at night without fear. Where the elderly were looked after.

Yes, I remember her passing the Key Act which made it illegal to let your key rust in the door.,
And then there was the Neighbourly Act under which if you knocked at your neighbour's door, you had to wait for a written invitation before entering.
 
Music is never any better or worse through any era. It’s just what the record companies push to the masses that changes.

These days good music is anything from alternative to completely underground.

You can discover bands you’ve never heard of that have 4000 views on YouTube, never in the charts, never on the radio, never on tele, but be blown away at how good they are.

There’s only one good radio station (BBC Radio 6 Music) in the country and even then they don’t pick up on a sea of decent bands that are out there. There are no decent music tv channels. There’s no John Peel or Tony Wilson around championing the alternative/underground anymore so it remains underground.
