Was it all a big mistake

It would have been interesting to see what would have happened in this amount of time if Mancini hadn't been sacked, I'm not saying he shouldn't have been sacked because the board obviously had their own very obvious reasons for doing so, but if we'd had Mancini till now and then seen Pep take charge that would have been an interesting prospect for me. On the otherhand hiring Pellegrini, it was a bit of an error, I mean they were hiring a manager who had no real track record in terms of winning trophies at his previous jobs, if you judge him by his first season he brought calm into the club and some of his signings weren't too bad to begin with either, Fernandinho, Negredo, Navas (Navas obviously only in first season), plus he did well to calm that poor run of form Joe Hart had by bringing in Pantimilon instead into the side.

But you could still argue Mancinis team basically won him the title even though his signings did do their jobs respectively in games, 2nd season we were really inconsistent, had runs of form where we were the old city of good and then the runs of the bad form, plus I kept thinking at times we should have done more to close in on Chelsea in the title race, but at the end of the day you aren't going to win the league every year so it's not particulary that that worried me, what worried me was the signings, Fernando, Mangala both flopped it's fair to say, Bony was a panic buy that hasn't worked and the others were mostly low key signings to fill out the squad that didn't have huge impacts, plus he frustrated me by loaning out Negredo at a bad time which made our strike force weak a bit like he did with Dzeko and Jovetic this year when he definitely could have played a part, disappointing for me more that the passion seemed to go out of that team in the inconsistent patches, doesn't help when none of your signings work out.

Then you have this season which started promisingly, I think Sterling we really overpaid for, we played into Liverpools hands to the point where it was like they forced us to come and get him from them, we should have just got someone european in and made a statement instead of overpaying for a player who wasn't really the finished article and only because he was english, then Otamendi who has been 50/50 has shown glimpses, the jury is still out on him, then you've got De Bruyne who is nothing short of inspirational and him and Pep will probably be the two most salvagable things from this season in terms of positives, then Delph who isn't bad, a bit like a cross between Barry and Milner, good enough for a squad player and I'd prefer him over Fernando any day but unfortunately he always seems to be injured.

So anyway positive start but it has fizzled out to the point where the club a/ can't beat anyone inside the top 8 and b/ can't win consequetive league games, at the end of the day it's obvious this season has been the worst out of the 3, and he definitely would have been sacked by now if Pep wasn't coming in, at the end of the day I don't care if Pellegrini is a gentleman and has handled this thing with tremendous respect, he has to take at least part of the blame for me he's naive and is tactically weak, plus he doesn't seem to motivate most of the players which is a huge problem especially this year as a lot of them don't seem to be up for games. Also regarding the PSG game it is not a given we are going to be destroyed, if anything our Champions League run is there to prove that is the one competition we can do well in this season (not including League Cup for obvious reasons) and although it wont be easy with Hart out I will always be behind the troops and I'd love to see them take the game to them and give them a good match.

Unless PSG lose their best 7 players between now and kick off we have no chance of competing with them.

Even then we go in massively underdone with no Hart , Sterling , VK and KVD and Delph underdone.

Again our clueless manager won't play Nacho so we won't score in either game because even his presence is good for Kun and he will play one up front and when we are behind magically bring on Bony for some unknown reason.

Sunday was the icing on the cake for me and why we will not finish in the top four.

Those who said MDM should have started and they know who they are should hang their heads in shame along with MP when we had so many better options and would have kept a clean sheet and not lost Joe for the season ( we won't see him again with that torn calf muscle I suggest as it looked bad )

Our best chance was Joe keeping at least one clean sheet but given the insipid way we set up we are bound to concede at some stage and we can't find the net against any side with a modicum of pace and pressing in their side.

Thanks to MP who has completely lost the plot now and I mean completely our season will end in tatters as too many players either know they are on their way and they couldn't be arsed fighting for points any more.

Bournemouth yes Bournemouth should start favourites against us so get on them for at least a point most likely three.

Even Manure once they scored you knew it over for us with Kun misfiring his two chances although one was covered by the keeper anyway.

We are close to a laughing stock now and if it wasn't for a good draw in the Chumps last 16 MP would still be here but should be sacked.

Yet another 'have a moan about Pellegrini' thread. Can the mods not just combine all of it into one thread? Or better yet a new forum where people can talk about all manner of things they hate about 'that old ****'. Call it 'this alarming man' or something

Clearly it's gone tits up and people are queuing up to give Pellegrini a kicking. The one thing many - but not all - overlook is the quality of football played in 2013/14. Together with 2011/12, that was arguably the most gilded football us Blues have ever seen. (And I go back to the 1960s.)

So when he does finally go, let's at least credit him with that.

Overall, he has patently under-achieved. I assess him as a "fairweather manager". He's a steady figurehead who can harness the positives when all the stars are in alignment. But it took a Mancini to get the ball really rolling and now a Pep to take us on from here.

I lose heart when I hear Mangala and MDM are lining up at the back against anyone with trickery and pace, I lose more heart when I hear were going to be overloaded in midfield and expect Yaya to contribute defensivley and I become suicidal when I see Boney about to come on. And in all that Im not the one having to run around on that pitch trying to cover for these guys.
However I do know who the one person is who could change it. I know the crowd would get behind any of our youth players given A chance & I know they would run thier socks off and show some passion and pride given that chance. However...

Not sure if getting rid of Mancini was necessarily a mistake. It may have been, but we had gone stale in his final season.

What was a mistake was not getting rid of pellegrini at the end of last season. Wool was pulled over our eyes by a strong finish, and the fact that the club lost sight of the here and now due to the obsession with pep (great we have him I should add, of course).
The warning signs were there after burnley last year, and we should have seriously considered his position then.

Still fuming from Sunday. What a golden opportunity for a misfiring but still talented team to put some serious distance between themselves and their immediate rival for a top 4 spot. Given the poor performances of late was it really to much to ask that the players raised their game to beat the worst United side in living memory.

And as usual a huge slice of the blame must be apportioned to the manager. It was a poor choice to pick MdM but Pellegrini was never going to play Sagna or an eds kid over him. What was unforgivable was that having selected the seriously immobile CB, Pellegrini didn't choose to offer him some protection. Given Sterling's injury he was able to correct this but too late.

Then when we needed to score at least one he brings on Bony who has shown nothing this year instead of Nacho. Depressing, predictable and ultimately cowardly which is a trait that will be long remembered in the engineer, although I am going to try to forget him asap. Sadly we have another 10 games of his incompetence to put up with.

He scraped the league in 2014 when the scousers bottled it.

This season has been the worst example of mismanagement of any City squad I have ever seen and that includes the mid 90s.

Wasn't debating this season. My point was if we are to crucify a manager who is only one of a very select few to win us the league then we need to take a long hard look in the mirror. We "scraped" the league under Mancini if anything.
