Was our title team under Pelegrini underrated?

Our team was class. My question is how much was that down to the manager and how much down to having several star players all at their peak? The previous champions (rags) changed manager and fell off a cliff which also helped his cause.

With the squad we had and those of our rivals, there was a fair chance we would win the league whoever the manager was. We played some awesome football and racked up some impressive victories. I don't want to shit on the achievement of the season because it was a good season but I really believe that with that group of players at that stage in their career, a league and league cup double wasn't much more than par for the course.

Aguero and Negredo were unplayable for the first 6 months of that season. Such a shame that shoulder injury and Pellegrini's subsequent mismanagement of Negredo basically ended his top level career.

The teams partly underrated because it went out to Barca in the rd of 16. We were only runners up to a great Bayern team by the thinnest of margins, and then got a terribly unlucky draw. I thought we had a punchers chance against Barca until that Demichilis red card doomed us. I seem to remember their being a foul in the build up too.

That team belonged on equal footing with Barca. The next year against Barca, and the year after against Real, we were clearly out of our depth.

I would say so. Most goals scored in all competitions in a season by a top-flight side (156)
