The worst era was not under the management of 'beanie'.....

I recall sat in the pissing down rain at Barnsley... getting dicked by them, hearing their fans sing 'just like watching Brazil' (it wasn't)... Phil Neal as caretaker manager (the 3rd manager that month.... seriously), The chairman Lee on holiday in Barbados...

Now that was shit....

I remember that. Uncovered away end and it pissed it down. Can't remember the score though; maybe 3-0??

Under Billy McNeil we lost at home to a last minute Notts County goal, I remember being on a massive downer, also under Pearce, that was a testing time..

A Wolves supporting mate blew me out of the water telling me his lowest ebb was driving up the M6 after losing in the FA cup 1st round at Chorley it was pissing down and they were bottom of the 4th division...suicidal he said!!

Not so much about having my faith tested, but the only time I questioned "Shall I give this up?" was walking away from the QPR game last year. Knowing I'll never, ever witness another moment like that if I carry on going for another 30 years, I did, for a brief moment, consider bowing out on a high.

Needless to say I renewed the season ticket.

Only other times that spring to mind when I've thought about giving it up (for completely different reasons obviously) are Fulham away 3-0 down at half time, Friday night kick off probably around 1998ish, and Stockport away - similar era - again 3-0 down at half time and getting piss wet through

when we were 2 down at wembley to gillingham, i looked round to see my wife crying and mates arguing and thought , fk this after 30 years home and away im finished with football. Half hour later we were dancing for joy when Weaver saved the pens. Pearce ruined a chunk of our fanbase, i hate him for this.

2-0. The game of "I'd rather be in BArnsley than Barbados".

There are two games I can remember where I was literally 100% certain we would lose (and we did). This was one, the other was the Blackburn Cup Quarter Final, after I'd read a Richard Dunne interview that mornign talking about dressign room rifts etc.

I don't think my faith has ever been tested. There have been a few times when i have thought 'fuck this' in the past.

When we got relegated at home against Liverpool and Steve Lomas held up the ball near the corner flag - that was low. Sat in the County stand with their fans at Edgeley Park 1-0 up with ten mins to go and we got beat 2-1 I left thinking is it going to get any better.

When Alan Ball, Frank Clarke and Phil Neal were managers there were some bad times then (Remember Phil Neal signing that winger was it Neil Headley or someone for £700,000). Sat in the Gene Kelly stand piss wet thru watching rubbish on a cold Tuesday or Wednesday night (when the scoreboard used to flash up with a sponsor when we got a corner).

Barnsley away and we got beat (think they ran out of beer at half time too in that little hut of theirs and City fans were kicking off).

Under Stuart Pearce the quality (or lack of it) of football was shocking - 10 league goals at home all season says it all - we didn't score from the January to the end of the season. No desire, no commitment, no pride to wear the shirt.

There have been numerous occasions when I have thought 'fuck this', and my patience has been tested - but i've never lost the faith!

That moment is the only time I genuinely thought "I'm giving this up".

I've been low, I've had spells of reduced interest, but that's the only time I thought "I've had enough".

Absolutely agree.
I was done at 2-0, finished and so were the club. I was 29 and for the first time in my life I had a few quid in my pocket a nice house, lovely wife and felt like shit!!!

FA Cup quarter final under Pearce in 2007. I never seriously consider not renewing or sacking it off but that period alienated a lot of our support. It was confirmationthat a lot the players weren’t interested, weren’t good enough and the manager had no clue how to organise and motivate the team.

I can clearly remember walking away from Ewood with the realisation that the team that got us promoted in 2002 would have put up more of a fight and created more chances than the side we had that day. It was pretty clear that in five years we’d only gone backwards.

The worst thing was, having been through the Ball, Clarke, Div 2 ear, all the signs were we were going to go back to that again. I’m not sure a lot of blues who stuck it out the first time could have put up with it again.

I'm going to put my tin hat on here but did Pearce actually do a reasonable job given the circumstances? Keegan assembled a team full of clique, division, OAPs and no marks before giving up in his usual trademark fashion. Pearce then came in with pennies to spend and kept us up for 2 consecutive seasons. The away wins at Newcastle and Middlesbrough were vitally important with Emile Mpenza in particular being a hero - but, the boring football aside, he ensured City remained a Premiership Club.

Mine was, I remember my first ever game after I started supporting us, I had been to the club shop with my Dad before the game and got a flag and scarf and top. I was so excited to get to the ground and have a look around. The atmosphere was immense and the game started so well with Robinho scoring from a free kick but we went on to lose 3-1 and I couldn't help but feel I had chosen the wrong club.

You sir, are sadly all too symptomatic of this new breed of middle class fans.

I had the biggest hissy fit imaginable when Gillingham scored the second in the play off final. Blurted out that I hated the club (but I really meant the players). Horrible. All was well in the end, though.

I've questioned my own sanity many, many times over the years. Never lost "the faith" though. I knew that come whatever I would be back the next week. Still can't believe our faith has been returned so magnificently.

Pearces last season without a doubt Id watch us through the 90s in the lower leagues but Pearces last season was the pits
I honestly felt my club had gone
We were in a ground that was souless (was this the season they piped singing over the tannoy)was this the ground that we left the great maine road for?
The football on the pitch was terrible negative boring tactics
An idiot in charge who had a lucky beanie
I had a bloke who sat behind me because I Stood up when we went near their goal
The kit we wore was not a city kit
we had a team full of mercenaries bar Richards Barton and Dunne

Moving to the new stadium was meant to be a dawn of a new era but that season it turned to shit
