Wasps nest!

Are you sure it's wasps because they're pretty well all dead by now. I've not seen one round our house for a while except for one, which I thought was the queen moving to a new nest.

Even if it is wasps, if they're in "jam rag" mode they haven't got long at all as the queen has released them and that's their last hurrah. They'll be gone within two weeks.

Worst case, you could get the Iranians to nuke them!

Light a couple of smoke pellets underneath their nest, make sure you've got something long to put them on as you don't want to get close yourself.

I found one in the hedge at the bottom of our garden, I poured barbecue lighter fluid on it and set it alight, got rid of the nest but also burnt down the hedge, missus wasn't impressed :(
