Inspired by a post I just read on here, Have you ever followed another club and gone to watch their games?

Speaking with Older generations in family they would never/rarely go to away games and would watch several local clubs, be it City/Bolton/Rags, depending on where they lived in The North West.

So any generation born in 70's/80's (like myself) have you followed another local club and or watched games?

My Dad watched City and in mid 90's started working in Bolton. He started watching Bolton and for 2/3 seasons? took me along with him.
He moved to Spain over a decade ago now and has been a SC holder at Malaga for ten years.

No, only city. A long time ago when tickets were cheap people used to go both city and united games, then it got more expensive and fans chose one or the other. I don't know many people who can afford going to watch 2 clubs, some can't even get to 1. It's a shame really

I sort of follow Macclesfield town, cos I live there and my best mate supports them, but I don't 'support' them the same way I do City. I mean I get down to the odd game and I'm happy for them when they win but I couldn't really give a toss when they lose.

I watched City one week and United the other back in the 70s.

It was easy to get in to matches for pocket money prices so a group of us from Urmston Grammar School used to go to a match every week.

I've been to more United matches at OT than 99% of United fans.

Went to graduate school at Newcastle in 2004, lived across the street from St. James's Park, and took a vested interest in their season as well as attending a number of games (despite both Souness taking the helm and me supporting City).

Hard to live in a city without caring how their club does, at least for an American living abroad. Seems like there's been no shortage of love lost between us and the magpies recently, especially with the ben arfa nonsense, but I still wish them well.

In the states it's much more common to have a club you love, but another you like... A team to look for after your results are secured.

Used to have a "more than friends" with a lass who lived across the road from it, when i was young and cool and was a cocktail barman at that posh hotel not so far away.

Ahh the tearooms weatherspoons the start to many a night of promiscuity and other devilish delights.

Happy days.

As a young kid I had no interest in football and only picked City as my best mate at the time started supporting them.
I would have been about seven at the time, I think. Perhaps even younger.

When he switched to United so did I. The shame! Never went to see 'em, mind.
Six months down the line a City pal in school told me to come back over as you should pick a club and stick to it.
I did and i've been here since. I gave up on the sport altogether a few years back but came back when Sven took over.

My former best pal? He's still a United nut, following them around the world.
Me? As soon as I came back onboard I knew it was right, even at such a young age.
City just... well, they felt right, if that makes sense? I knew I was destined to be a Citizen. I could not be happier.
