There was a channel 4 drama in the late 80's / early 90's called Shooting Stars that was basically about a City striker getting kidnapped. That was a very random mention of City.

My mate from school played the young lad in this. Used to do his head in, because everyone would pepper him with the “is he gonna shag her” line haha. It’s on YouTube now I believe.

Remember back to mid 90s and the Common as Muck series with Edwood Woodward. One of the main characters always in a city shirt.
Other bonus was that a lot it was filmed local to the stadium in Miles Platting and Newton Heath.
