Agree- after trashing this planet, billions are being spent to turn another planet to garbage.

It would be more beneficial to spend money in making life and planet better here on earth.

This planet has NEVER EVER been in a better condition to sustain human life.

Short term thinking ? Letting billions starve in poverty, pollute the planet to level that future generations would not have clean water or air here on Earth and spend billions to find traces of water on another planet rather than invest in keeping this planet good.

What is the long-term plan - move 7 billion people along with trillions of other animal species all to Mars ?

19 billion budgeted for Nasa out of the 4 trillion federal spend in America(2016).

Gps, modern satellite comms and weather forecasting exist due to space exploration and i assume you use all three?

Also played a huge part in advancements in tech such as computers, robotics and fuel cells amongst many others.

We can’t sort out a diplomatic solution with regards to laws in our own continent, never mind another planet.

Be better off sending plant life and monkeys over there, let us destroy each other, then when they’ve evolved enough they can fly back and start over.

Man has cocked things up big time here on Earth, massive pollution (only going to get worse) destroying the Ozone layer and global warming, Oceans full of plastic killing sea life, Mountains of rubbish nobody knows what to do with except bury it.

100% agree with you. It’s obscene that the focus of the best minds is distracted from what could be made better for the poor to average humans on Earth (Never mind the money). When the comet with our name on it arrives it’ll be the likes of Trump that’ll live in a pod in Mars.

Our children and grandchildren and so on have to adapt to an ever changing planet. And then they’ll be gone.

I remember the doom and gloom merchants in my childhood back in the day saying we would all be history by the year 2000. Doom and gloomery is part and parcel of life, whilst thinking life 30 years in the past was a golden age.

However, if President Fart was to be sent to Mars on a one way ticket, I think that would be a positive benefit for the future of mankind.
