We have no idea what goes on in the dressing room but everything you hear out of it suggests Carson is a huge figure in there. Pep obviously values his influence in the dressing room and the effect he has on the rest over having somebody extra he's never going to bring on anyway. It's really not that controversial.

Probably got something to do with who gets medals at the end of the campaign. Giving Carson the chance of a Premiership medal.
