We played Middlesborough 4 times one season - League Home, League Away, FA Cup and League Cup and lost every single one.

Bernie fuckin' Slaven.

Fuckin hate Boro.

We played SPurs 4 times in 1980/81 (won 1, drew 1, lost 2) and also in 1992/93 (lost all 4!) and in 2003/2004 (lost league cup, won 4-3 FACup, drew 1-1 away, drew 0-0 home).
We also played Wigan 4 times in 98/99 - including the play-offs.
And Liverpool in 2011/12 .

I went to all three games. Just checked on the Blue Moon History and the dates were

25/01/1986 Watford H FAC 1-1
03/02/1986 Watford A FAC 0-0e
06/02/1986 Watford H FAC 1-3

Think Mark Lillis scored in the first game. And I'm pretty sure John Barnes destroyed us in the third one.

Pretty sure Lillis missed a penalty late on to win the first game as well.

Paul Power celebrated winning the toss after the replay more than he did the Semi-Final winner in '81.

Can't remember how many, if any, Barnes scored in the third game but he definitely ran the show.

We played them four times another season two league and two legged league cup semi
Correct. The home semi was my first ever game.

White Dog Poo - Lillis did indeed miss a penalty against Watford.

Re: Watford mid 80`s

I can confirm all three games.

It wasn't Barnes who did the damage on that 3rd game, I remember. If i'm correct, it was Worrel Sterling coming on as a sub and smacking a brace.

We were battered in about a 10 minute spell where Nigel Callaghan ran riot over us. Awful moment.

We should have won the game at the first attempt when Gordon Davies scored and Lillis missed a Penalty.

The return was on a Monday night I think and we played them off the park but they somehow hung on.(Tony Coton was excellent for them)

One of the first games I can remember although apparently I went to games earlier. I think it was televised live to Scandinavia and as a kid I spent the game peering through a TV camera not in operation.

yeah ,that was when we the launched the then revolutionary tactic of not marking John Barnes, worked a treat.
