Watford post match thread

Cheers. Without wishing to sound patronising I suppose all that I was trying to say was notwithstanding the result it was great seeing players of the quality of your team. It was only 3 years ago we were being thrashed 3-0 at home by Yeovil so most of us ( ignoring the normal cynical mob) are still Excited about being in the prem....for the time being.!!
Your team manager has done an excellent job and good position on the table.

The mark of champions... grinding out a result against a tough opponent, even when things aren't going well.

We coped with Kompany out, a spectacular corner kick from Ben Watson, and an attacking side which has not had enough playing time yet to gel.

Kudo's to MP for bringing on Bony with about 15 min to go. Finally, a substitution I could agree with (not sure why he subbed out Sterling for Navas, but at least that allowed KDB to play on the left).

Perhaps because Sterling was playing pretty poorly and Navas gives us balance with KDB out left. He has frequently come on and helped us turn games round, just as happened last night.

Fair enough - Navas always tries his best and as you say often provides an extra spark for the team.

Bingo, the stand out problem for me is the quality of our fullbacks, both defensively and more importantly offensively.

Missed Zabbas ability in and around the opponents penalty box massively this season.Kolorovs crossing 80% of the time is dogshit, can't beat a man and has no right foot, the amount of time he checks his run and stops the ball only to pass it back into midfield is frightening.

Ricky fucking Holden could cross a ball better than Kolorov, he never delivers the ball early enough either.

Interesting what you say about Navas by the way.
.

Not my idea re Navas, someone else mentioned it earlier, but it's the kind of whacky Pep fun one could imagine happening. I could also imagine him starting the season with two kids playing fullback, as they have more idea of his kind of game than the rirst team players.

Again, defending corners would be interesting though.

Haven't seen the game yet due to extensive hours at work this weekend but I believed that the performance wasn't the bestof games but an away win against a side in form is promising l, we were due an away win

Hopefully we gain abit of momentum and consistency in the league now to push Arse or whoever all the way! Bring on Everton in the cup!

I didn't think you were being patronising mate, your side deserved a lot of credit for the way you played yesterday, I think an opposition forum is not likely to be the place to see it!

I like Ighalo, he caused us a lot of problems, but then a LOT of your players did haha!

This must be the first time on Bluemoon that anyone has mentioned the Cheka, though God knows how you worked that in.
What next in match reports? The Peterloo Massacre? The Congress of Vienna?

Flores is one of the most welcome additions to the PL in a long time. He has a splendidly sinister appearance, especially on a cold, wet, dank January evening, which contrasts with his quietly spoken manner. To add to all that he speaks real sense, is very fair-minded and reasonable and he's created a really entertaining and talented team. I don't know what next in football posts, not much I think, because really interesting characters like Flores seem to manage enterprising but "small" clubs like Watford and are outnumbered by the rather grey characters that some other clubs bring in (usually Dutch?) or the nasty win-at-all-costs brigade (Portuguese?). If Harry the Hornet is still reading our posts I'd love to know what they think of him in Watford.

Just watching MOTD again, what a truly shocking tackle by Deeney on Kolarov. Then he had the temerity to appeal for a penalty.
