Waves, age and platini

Really, do we now solely judge players on what face they are pulling whilst playing? The stereotype that Adebayor is lazy isn't just wrong, it's disgusting with a tint of racism surrounding it. Yards covered per game statistically, he is just behind Tevez and is a mile in front of RSC.

Forget what you already 'know', watch the game.

Oh fuck it, let's sell a major player, an essential part of the squad, our new number nine and a guy who could be better than Drogba in a few years simply because you 'get the impression' that he 'might' be 'disinterested'.

Where was Drogba at Ade's age? Still in France, just about to move to Chelsea because of his excellent season where he had a worse goal ratio than Ade did last season, whilst in a far poorer league.

once upon a time I agreed with you, but his performances nose-dived towards the end of last year. forget the effort, he's no longer on the same wavelength as his team mates. he has shown his 'aggression' no more than a few times, and it's always been aimless.

I find it very hard to forget 'what I know', because it's not idle speculation in the press, the lad himself has talked about his desire to leave. I think city tried to make him feel wanted by giving him the shirt, but the reality for Emmanuel is, he won't accept missing league games. if he stays, it will apparently be under duress.

i guess we're spoilt rotten anyway, but I will be pretty disappointed if we are relying on him to be our target man this year, when there are other players who are perfect fits for that role, and who could be here for the next 3 years, or longer. having someone who isn't committed fill a key role is bad news. you just can't rely on them to be firing on all cylinders if their minds are elsewhere.

I'll savour the memories of his efforts last year, but I refuse to let them cloud my judgement of where we're going as a team and how he is going to fit into that. better for everyone that he gets his move.... if it doesn't happen now it will be in January.

That's fine, I wasn't disagreeing that he wants to leave (and I'm certainly not agreeing with it either), I was arguing the point that he is lazy. Wanting to play football instead of sitting down watching whilst earning £100k+ a week, doesn't paint someone as lazy to me.

Also, the quotes from Adebayor said that if he doesn't play, he'll consider his future. If any player is not getting played and is happy to accept that, I'd want to fuck them off straight away. Ade is a winner; he wants to play. Mancini is a good man manager if his past exploits out of City are to be believed, he'll make him work for it.

We've always said that Ade's head isn't right. There's no reason not to believe that this isn't Mancini's way of making him realise that his future is in his own hands.

EDIT: I also agree that he had a bad run at the end of last season, but let's not confuse form with talent, and vice versa.

With the financial rules taking effect after the winter transfer window, we still have time to move disaffected players out and bring in replacements. If this window we did a swap for Ade we are just replacing one wage with another so for me I cannot see how that effects the financial restraints, likewise we could still spend any amount on a player because the figures won't appear in the accounts to be scrutinised. Fortunately in some respects it is better to get all the players who aren't prepared to accept the regime to speak now so that they can go and replace with quality players who will take us where we want to go as a squad. I just hope Ade stays same with Robinho but it isn't looking too good.

Great post, where do you find the yards covered per game statistic? I have looked for it everywhere

Getting late in the day to make any incoming or outgoing deals but if anyone can surely we can with our financial situation.

Could Benzema or even dare I say it Torres be an option?

I think it is too late now for us to get anyone in... which sucks because if RSC and Robinho are out and Ade keeps being shit and mouthing off to the press then we will have a real problem on our hand with Tevez being the only Premier League proven striker left... I rate Balo, but I think he will need time to adapt... and Jo is... well he is Jo... I don't expect anything from him either, maybe that works out in his favour though.

IF and its a big if we got somebody in they would have to be having their medical by about 1pm tomorrow at the latest due to Blood result taking up to 4 hours, in time to meet the 5pm deadline.

Effectively there is only 22-23hours of the window left.

I still think the Torres deal could still be on the table but i'm the eternal optimist..one big hit, they have said a big bid would be impossible to turn down.

Fingers crossed.

Wow, Damocles comes off the long run...

It's the same as the people who peddle the 3 DM myth — I don't know how many actually, like really, watch the football. Not the game, but the football.

Because I'm often pissed whilst the game is on, I make sure I watch a replay the next day. Like a good movie, it's amazing how much you miss first time around.

I've never understood where the Adebayor laziness claims come from. His work rate for a guy who is 6' 03" is actually very high. Compare him to other tall forwards and you'll find that his whole career he's covered more ground than the majority.

People slating Ade's attitude is open for debate, people slating his work rate (or strike rate for that matter) shouldn't be.
