It was pretty obvious from his first press conference that Rooney would never make a manager. So many brilliant players are disasters as managers. “MANCINI says hello” I think it is because many of them play with such focus and intensity and tunnel vision in their own role that they never see the big tactical picture. Some of his comments as a pundit have been absurdly stupid. People like Dean Saunders and Stuart (get in his face) Pearce are the same. Derby must have been mad to recruit Rooney.

The only ones I feel sorry for are his sons. The eldest is now old enough to access social media. The kids in school could give him a hard time. He is also old enough to understand what this must be doing to his Mum and definitely old enough to know right from wrong and to realise what a stupid old man his father is.

The only sort of saving grace is that school is out for the summer, it’s a 9 day wonder and the furore might have calmed down by September.

Poor kids.

Can you explain your thinking behind that? Do you mean Vardy's wife may have to pay so much in damages that she can leave old Wayne? That is such a pathetic contest based on nothing more substantial than bruised makeup that any judge will say there is a case but the remedy is about a tenner. And all pay their own costs. Pathetic

They deserve better.

The whole deal with Derby is as dodgy as the rest of their finances. They are alleged experts at dodging FFPR.

His wages are paid for by the bookies that sponsor them because the club can't afford it.

Rooney makes Ya Ya look like a communications expert. There are so many fantastic players, usually the instinctive ones, who will never be great managers. In my view David Silva will never make a manager even though he is one of the greatest players of all time. Being manager is a totally different skillset to being a player. I don't understand why clubs appoint people just because they were good players.

Rooney has turned Derby County into a laughing stock across the world. Perhaps their next appointment will be Gazza. Mind you Joey Barton is now looking for a job!
