What I don't get with Rooney is he must know that he's a shit manager and will only last a few months therfore damaging his reputation and legacy why do it, he can't be short of money.
But people who have become top level in sports often don't have that mindset. To become a top level pro, you often need level of drive, motivation and obsession that's far beyond most people. It's more than just ability. Then you have to factor in that people have been getting smoke blown up their arse for decades.
I think some of them still carry that mindset/delusion into management, despite their management skills being nowhere near their playing skills.
