"Wayne Rooney's Plymouth Argyle''

Plymouth are one of the first teams I distinctly recall us playing against, way back in the 60s. I remember quite liking the kit they wore at the time and have always had a small soft spot for them.

Appointing Wayne Fucking Rooney has not improved their stock with me, although I suppose you could be kind and call it an aberration, or desperation, or something.

At home to 6th placed Middlesbrough next saturday, followed by trips to Coventry (15th) and Oxford (20th; a real relegation 6 pointer, that) before a home game against Bristol City (11th) on new year's day. Will he still have the gig at that stage?
Shouldn’t that be Michael Carrick's Middlesbrough?

I believe the (American) owner wanted a high-profile appointment.

The FA Cup 3rd round draw televised on the BBC from The Swamp was chock full of references to 'Wayne Rooney's Plymouth', 'Michael Carrick's Middlesborough', 'Ruud Van Nistlerooy's Leicester' and 'Darren Ferguson's Peterborough'.. sickening sycophancy as ever..

My son-in-law and his family are all Argyle supporters.. they can't stand Rooney..

Whenever I see this thread updated, I keep thinking he's been sacked.

I take these things back to grass roots. I play cricket but our club is a cricket and football club and they have 4 teams. If the first team invited a bloke who played at the top level of elite football into that club to work with those lads even if it was for two months, and he took their training and made them train twice a week so he could coach them and then took their games, there would be an immediate measurable improvement. This fella improves nothing and always brings failure. But he is a disciple of Ferguson so must know something? Nope.

They soon find out that Mickey Flipping Phelan, Brian Kidd, Carlos wotsit Quiroz (sp), McLaren, Archie Scottish someone, Walter Smith et al did the coaching. Ferguson did the bullying and bollocks behind the scenes. Rooney hasnt got the sense they were born with but lives as a manager off the back of the GPC. It wont last much longer this shirley will be his last job in England anyway
