I'm loving the whole thing! It's not like I have a big portfolio of shares that are all worth fuck all now. Sit back and enjoy the ride, thats what I say. As for GB being the right man for the job, I spilled my G&T when I read that. :-)
Hopefully they'll be a nice big Avalanche heading your way this winter...I'll be loving that!!...selfish fucker

Which bit of my statement makes me a selfish fucker?
The fact that you are loving the whole thing?..when thousands of people due for retirement are seeing their pension pots dwindle through no fault of their own....pension pots that didn't have a lot in them in the first place might I add!

Well we had the lowest one-day loss on the sharemarket since, you guessed it, 1929.
The dollar is now down against every single one of the major currencies. And this has all happened pretty much in the space of a week, it's been carnage.

american politics is so against that sick inhuman socialism that I fear it will cut off it's nose to spite it's face

and refuse to nationalise hence save it's fucked financial institutions

the rest of the world might not be so "principled"

WTF??????????!!!!!!!!!!!

Who agrees that this is the worst set of world leaders (so called) since the thirties? They are inviting disaster and something must be done.
I need to devote my time to worrying about City, not the bastard economy. I could do a better job than this. This is dreadful.
the way i see it the rich are gonna get poor, which will leave me who's always been poor better off in relaton to them, result

As others have often said on here Gordon Brown is absolutely fab and the best man to lead us in(to) this current crisis.

Thank god we haven't got those nasty tories in power. Imagine what a shite job they'd be doing compared to our Gordon!!!

pmsl.

And me mate, what a joke

I think you took that the wrong way Blue Monkey and Gelsons Dad has actually lost loads of money on shares!

The great and mighty Gordon could have secured pensions for a lot less than the 700b he's using to buy failing banks. There is no need for those reaching pension age to worry unless they have been careless with their own pension funds by allowing them to be invested in high risk strategies. Those loosing money on the markets knew the risks involved. Those who looked to make fast cash on the housing markets knew the risks involved. Why complain when the markets make a correction? Sit back and enjoy. If you didn't have the cash to gamble you shouldn't gamble. There are plenty of VCs waiting to buy up whatever they like when things hit bottom.
If you had invested all your spare cash in gold over the last few years you would see this in a completely different light.
On a point closer to home. The reason the smart oil producing states have been building fantasy islands and encouraging business to move into the region is because they knew the oil price was massively inflated so they used the money they made to buy something more safe in the future. I bet not one opec member has budgeted at an oil price of more than $50 a barrel for next year.

This financial correction is worse than a divorce.

I've lost half my net worth and I've still got a wife.

what a week!

I am physically shattered, I quite enjoyed 1993 when Sterling dropped out of the erm and even got a bit of a buzz out of black monday, at 41 I have come to the conclusion Im too old for this game.

The only bright moment came when i walked into the bank on thursday to fix my loan scared shitless that speculation against the kroner would lead to a spike in rates when i got the call that ecb had cut rates.

Iceland.....a year ago we were telling people to get out and stay out, and still they bleat when they lose their cash. Why the hell were they in icelandic banks....for a few bps of interest, this is the biggest flight to quality ever and no one knows where the quality is.

I went to Iceland a few times in the 90s. The whole place smelled fishy then and even more so now. The standard of living shot up in the last 5 years and now we know who payed for it. The rest of the world!!

Another plus to this is no-one will fall for that "i've got a few mill in a black account and need you to help me" scam anymore!!

i was there last year for a convention, the only plus from this is that with EURISK at 200 a pint is about the right price.

Rich people aren't suffering in this and won't. Just us poor schmucks who get to pick up the tab while the value of our pensions and homes go through the floor; our chances of remaining employed diminish; the cost of living spirals; our taxes continue to rise and our public services continue to deteriorate if they still exist at all.

And still some of you think that Brown is the man to get us out of this... ~:-0 ffs wake up and smell the coffee. The man is directly responsible for leading us here in the first place. Him and his party.

I am not saying that anyone else would do better but I think its time to take off those blinkers boys. This lot are just as bad as the old Thatcher Tories were.

its got little to do with any of them, age old problem, people doing the trading are alot smarter than those trying to regulate them, thay cant regulate what they dont understand, see Nick leeson in this respect.
